Thanos – “Thanos will protect you, don't worry”

Thanmi is the het ship between Choi "Thanos" Su-bong and Se-mi from the Squid Game fandom.

Canon

The two met each other during the killing game and interact for the first time during the Six-Legged Pentathlon game when players are tasked to make up teams of 5. Thanos, with Nam-gyu and Gyeong-su, comes up to Se-mi and he introduces himself. Startled by the greeting, she asks who he is and whether she's supposed to know who he is. Gyeong-su starts rapping about him while Nam-gyu tries to make Thanos reconsider his choice for a new teammate, but he insists and goes on to say how he'll protect her. Se-mi makes a funny remark about Thanos' name after his comment. After Thanos convinces her to join, she mentions how she already found someone. Thanos is fine with that, greets Min-su and they make up their team of five. Their team successfully survives Six-Legged Pentathlon.

In the sleeping area after Six-Legged Pentathlon, Nam-gyu tells Min-su to count how many people are left to which Se-mi replies, saying that's a stupid idea. Nam-gyu tells her to shut up and Thanos intervenes by saying to stop it, after which he asks everyone when they were born. Se-mi casually lies about being born in 96, which makes Thanos conclude that she's the oldest of the group. He then tells Nam-gyu that he should talk to her like an elder with respect, calling her Noona. The next morning Se-mi tells Min-su that he should stay away from their team, referring to Thanos and Nam-gyu, as she only teamed up with them because they're helpful in the games, calling them idiots.

During Mingle, Thanos and Se-mi are together when the amount of players is called out to be 4. Then when the amount of players is called out to be 3, Se-mi and Min-su are dared to play Rock, Papers, Scissors by Thanos. Se-mi extends her hand to Min-su and tells him to go with her. However, on the countdown by Thanos and Nam-gyu he shows scissors to her, which leaves her alone.

During the Special Game, Se-mi was killed by the same fork that was used to kill Thanos.

Fanon

Although not that of a popular ship, the fans enjoy it as they believe the two would work quite well had they met outside the games or in AU's. Thanos has shown respect towards Se-mi as he calls her Noona, even telling Nam-gyu to call her the same and to show respects towards her, even though Se-mi has actually lied about her age. This might've prompted some people to ship the two. This would count as a rarepair because both characters have ships with them that are more popular, them being Thangyu for Thanos and Seminsu for Se-mi.

Trivia

• The ship name PiercedPills refers to Se-mi having piercings and Thanos' pills.
• Thanos calls Se-mi "Señorita" the first time he sees her, the same phrase he uses to refer to Mi-na when he flirts with her.
• Thanos later calls Se-mi "누나", Noona or Nuna, which means "older sister" in Korean. Men use it to refer to women older than them, whether it be younger brothers referring to their older sisters or younger men referring to older women who are their friends.
