The Salesman, also known as the Recruiter, is one of the most popular characters in the fandom for various reasons. This is because he is . Another reason why is because he is acted by Gong Yoo, so a lot of fans thirst over his looks. Additionally, there is a lot of praise towards his acting because people say he played his role really well, especially after Season 2 during the Russian Roulette scene. People pointed out how his face seems to be split into two different emotions, which not only unsettled people but also made his character even more interesting to analyse. His character remains one of the most mysterious in the show because even with his explanation about his past during the Russian Roulette scene, the audience still doesn't know of some basic information like his name. Due to this, lots of fanwork like to give him a name, or some just keep calling him The Salesman/The Recruiter.
Most popular scenes include him slapping Gi-hun on the face, Rock, Papers, Scissors with Choi Woo-seok and Kim Jeong-rae, and the Russian Roulette scene. His scene with Gi-hun gets joked about but also a lot of interesting fancontent is made of him and Gi-hun because of this scene, as he proposes Gi-hun to "pay with his body" when the player first loses to him. Fans also pointed out that he has some "freaky" gear in what seems to be his house, when he captures Woo-seok and Jeong-rae. This has caused some interesting fancontent to be made and jokes about how he is freaky. The Russian Roulette scene was what caused people to staple the idea that The Salesman is freaky because he puts the gun in his mouth. A lot of memes are made about the scene but it also gets included in a lot of edits. People also like how Gi-hun calls him a "dog", which again, spawned lots of interesting fancontent of him.
