Timber is the slash ship between Tim Drake and Bernard Dowd from the DC Comics fandom.

Batman - Urban Legends[]
Tim reunites with Bernard for the first time in years, sharing a meal at a fancy restaurant. Unfortunately, their reunion is cut short when Bernard is kidnapped by a cult leader known as the Chaos Monster. Tim sets on a quest to rescue him. Tim’s search for Bernard leads him to the Dowd household, where Tim says that Bernard's parents always wanted everything just so perfectly placed. And Bernard never quite measured up to their standards.
When Tim gets to where Bernard is being held, he instantly protects him, by getting in front of him. However, Bernard surprises Tim by kicking one of the captors, telling him that he doesn't have to fight on his own anymore. This is incredibly significant for Tim, since he had been doubting himself and kept telling himself that heroes are always alone, like Batman is. But with Bernard now on his side, fighting alongside him, Tim thinks he feels "calm."
As they were facing the captors, back-to-back, Bernard suddenly asks Tim for a favor, in case they don’t make it out alive, without realizing that the hero that was saving him, who he admits to be a fan of, Robin, was actually Tim himself.
- Tell Tim Drake... he helped me realize my true self, who I am. Tell him... Well, he probably knows. He's the smartest guy I've ever met. But tell him... I wish we could have finished our date.

Tim reassures him that they will definitely survive and the two of them fight side by side, making it out safely. Afterwards, Tim feels like something in him changed and he can't stop thinking about it. So he visits Bernard, very nervous and reassuring himself that he "got this." But both Bernard and him get really nervous and shy as soon as they see each other. So as soon as Tim shares how meaningful the night was to him, Bernard formally asks him out on a date, to which Tim happily accepts.
After this date, the two of them start dating. But Robin's missions and busy schedule always get in the way of the two boyfriends meeting each other. Also, Robin ends up coming out as bisexual to Bruce Wayne during the holidays, telling him that Bernard really makes him happy, which comforts Bruce.
Titans[]

In season 4, Tim met and developed an immediate attraction to a science director at S.T.A.R. Labs by the name of Bernard Fitzmartin. His crush was quickly returned as the days passed since the Titans arrival at Metropolis, with Bernard singling Tim out to offer his number to when the Titans first initially tried to move on. During a training scene, Conner teases Tim for his heartrate having increased in Bernard's presence, particularly due to being shirtless at the time. The pair shared a kiss in the fifth episode Inside Man after the pair narrowly avoided being killed by Mother Mayhem's cursed snake sent to attack the Titans, and Bernard later expresses wariness of Tim going with the Titans out into the field when he has very little training, only to be assured by Tim that he will be fine.
Tim tells the Titans he kissed Bernard in the sixth episode Brother Blood, and is offered a congratulatory fist bump by Gar Logan.
Gotham Knights[]
Gotham Knights narrative director Amy Lemay had revealed that Tim is bi.[1] He is dating Bernard Dowd and has dated a girl before.[2][3][4]

With Bernard's initial introduction, Timber was a rare pair. Most likely not even existing when Bernard initially appeared.
On AO3, Timber is the most written ship for Bernard. It currently has 1,399 written works.
Titans[]
Following Bernard's introduction into Titans in the fourth season, fans were concerned by the apparent age gap between Tim, who had been confirmed by the show's writers to be no older than seventeen, and Bernard, who appears as a chief Director of Applied Sciences at S.T.A.R. Labs and visibly appears in his late twenties. This age gap has yet to be addressed by the showrunner, writers or actors, despite fan insistence on clarification; wanting to know if Tim's age had been retconned to be older or if Bernard, like other characters such as Sebastian, are younger than they look, which some fans found difficult to believe given Bernard's status within the S.T.A.R. Labs company. An additional criticism of the pairing on the show came in the form of how fast paced it was, with the pair having only known each other for four days when they kissed, however a portion of the fandom are in full support of the ship and are looking forward to further interactions between the pair in part 2 of the season.
