Canon[]
Shoto is on good terms with Tenya, respecting Tenya for his incredible speed after their battle in the U.A. Sports Festival; Tenya appears to also respect Shoto for having the behavior of a true Hero. Shoto having respect for Tenya as he could relate to the struggles when it comes to holding grudges against someone. They are also both members of the fanon Dekusquad.
Season Two[]
They are first seen interacting with each other when Shoto chooses Tenya to join his team in the Cavalry Battle. Together, along with Momo Yaoyorozu and Denki Kaminari, they win the event. As such, all members move on to the 1v1 tournament. Tenya and Shoto face off against each other in the semi-finals. Although Tenya tries to catch Shoto off-guard with his Recipro Burst attack, Shoto is able to use his powers to freeze Tenya's enginges. Despite coming out on top, Shoto still takes the time to compliment Tenya's speed. Shoto places second and Tenya third by the end of the Sports Festival.
After the Sports Festival, Tenya discovers that his brother was attacked by the Hero Killer: Stain. Shoto notices that Tenya seems to be deeply affected by this as they all part ways to begin their internships. He is all too familiar with feelings of resentment and thirsting for revenge.

Shoto fights against Stain
On the night of the Nomu attack, Tenya and Shoto are both in Hosu. Tenya uses the chaos as an opportunity to find and seek vengeance on Stain. Luckily Izuku Midoriya stumbles on the scene before Tenya can be badly hurt, and sends his location to all of his phone contacts in an attempt to call for help. Shoto is the only one to show up, and he fights Stain while the other two boys suffer the effects of Stain's Quirk. While Tenya begs him to leave, Shoto refuses. He tries to remind Tenya why he wanted to be a hero in the first place, and tries to encourage him away from vengeance. Eventually both Izuku and Tenya are able to break free from Stain's Quirk, and the three boys work together to incapacitate the Hero Killer.
Shoto, Tenya, and Izuku are taken to the hospital to treat the injuries they sustained in battle. Tenya apologizes again for getting his friends involved in his thirst for revenge. Tenya also learns that he suffered severe damage to the nerves in his right hand, and while it may be able to be rectified with surgery he decides not to undergo the surgery until he can call himself a true hero. Shoto then laments that he must be the "Hand Crusher", because he has now been involved with events that have ruined both Izuku and Tenya's hands. The pair laugh at this, but Shoto is being completely serious.
Back at UA, Shoto and Tenya eat lunch together with the rest of the Dekusquad. Neito Monoma comes over and takes the opportunity to harass Shoto, Tenya, and Izuku for the events that occurred at Hosu. Itsuka Kendo manages to knock him out before he can do too much damage.
Season Three[]
As Class 1-A arrives at the training camp, Shoto and Tenya work together alongside a handful of other classmates to defeat earth giants conjured by Pixie-Bob.
After Katsuki Bakugou is kidnapped by the League of Villains, Shoto and Eijiro Kirishima come up with a plan to rescue him. Tenya is put-off by this idea, but he recognizes that the students will not listen to him and call off the rescue. Instead, he offers to join in on the mission so that he can keep an eye on things. He tells Izuku and Shoto that he doesn't want them going down the same path as he did with Stain. In the Japanese sub, Shoto then calls him "Watchman Iida". When the group finds Katsuki's location, they make a plan to rescue him. They utilize both Tenya and Shoto's Quirks; Shoto creates a large ice ramp, and then Tenya uses his speed to propel them into the air.
Following the kidnapping of Katsuki, the UA students are forced to move into on-campus dorms. On the first night, the students of 1-A host a room contest. When it concludes, Shoto asks if he can go to sleep. Tenya reminds him to brush his teeth, as they all ate cake in Rikido Sato's room. Later, at the Hero Licensing Exam, Tenya pulls Minoru Mineta away from Shoto when he begins to mock the latter for failing.
Season Four[]

Shoto and Tenya pose at the School Festival
Tenya and Shoto are seen eating lunch together again, alongside Izuku. They both notice that something is wrong with their friend, and offer words of advice. Tenya reminds Izuku that he can always come to them for help, and when Izuku begins to cry Shoto reminds him that heroes are allowed to cry. They then each offer Izuku part of their lunch.
Tenya and Shoto are seen spending time together at the School Festival, alongisde Fumikage Tokoyami and Koji Koda.
Season Five[]
Tenya and Shoto are placed on the same team in the Joint Training Exercise. Before their match against the Class 1-B team, Tenya is the only one of their classmates who realizes that something is bothering Shoto, which surprises his teammates. They wonder how he knows that Shoto has something on his mind, considering Shoto's expression rarely changes.

Tenya rescues an unconscious Shoto
Shoto uses his ice to freeze the battlefield, and then Tenya attempts to run out and capture their enemies. However, the plan is foiled by Juzo Honenuki's Quirk. Later in the battle, Shoto is knocked unconscious by a falling pipe. Tenya prioritizes saving Shoto over capturing Juzo, and he runs off with Shoto in his arms. Tetsutetsu and Juzo, desperate for a win, send a softened tower falling onto Tenya and Shoto. Even using his Quirk, Tenya cannot outrun it. He manages to throw Shoto forwards so he doesn't get crushed, before Tenya is caught underneath the tower himself.
Shoto wakes up later in the Nurse's Office, with Tenya sitting at his bedside. He apologizes for not being fast enough to win the match for their team, but Shoto reminds Tenya that he saved him. Juzo asks Tenya and Shoto for a re-match some day, and then agree.
Season Six[]
Shoto and Tenya are both members of the Jaku Evacuation Team. The Evacuation quickly turns into a full-out battle, and Tenya grows worried for Shoto and Izuku, He tells Nejire Hadou that they are both very important people to him, and that they once taught him a valuable lesson (about what it means to be a true hero). Tenya arrives, and he warns Shoto of the approach of Gigantomachia. Shoto requests that Tenya take all injured heroes as far away from the battlefield as possible. At the end of the battle, Tenya and Shoto attempt to work together to take out Tomura once and for all. Unfortunately, their plan fails and Tomura escapes.
When Class 1-A sets out to rescue Izuku from the fate he thinks he deserves as a vigilante hero, Tenya and Shoto again work together. Using a move similar to the one they executed in the rescue of Katsuki, Shoto creates an ice ramp that Tenya can use to propel himself into the air and grab Izuku. They, along with the rest of their class, manage to bring him safely back to UA.

Before the Final War happens, Tenya, Katsuki, and Eijiro are shown in Shoto's dorm room, talking about Dabi. Tenya tried to comfort him by saying that he also has a older brother.
After Shoto "defeats" Dabi, he apologizes to Tenya on behalf of Dabi for having overloaded his engines. Tenya then affirms to him that he doesn't have to apologize for anything. When Dabi is able to escape, Shoto declares it is not over yet, while Tenya supports him.
Movies[]
Two Heroes[]
Tenya and Shoto are both invited to I-Expo, and they each attend as a way to represent their respective hero families. They both fight with the rest of Class 1-A to save the Pro-Heroes, but do not share any significant moments together.
Heroes: Rising[]
Tenya and Shoto are paired together on the same battle team upon the villains' arrival on Nabu Island. They stand up to the villain Chimera, but are unable to hold their own against him. When Chimera retreats to regroup with his partners, Shoto attempts to run after him. Tenya stops him, reminding Shoto that it won't do any good to try and face him head-to-head.
That night, Class 1-A formulates a plan to defeat the villains. Tenya and Shoto are again paired together to fight Chimera a second time. They lure him to a waterfall area of the island, and put their plan into motion. When Shoto is pinned by Chimera, Tenya comes to his rescue by using his Quirk to aim a kick at the villain. Tenya and the others manage to distract Chimera so that Shoto can use his Quirk to freeze him. Tenya, Shoto, and the rest of their team pass out from exhaustion and the cold.
Fanon[]
TodoIida is a relatively popular ship in the fandom, although it is almost completely overshadowed by Shoto's most popular ship with Izuku Midoriya. It is also often rivalled by TodoBaku, IidaOcha and IiDeku.
The ship sailed as a result of the Stain arc, and the burgeoning friendship between Tenya, Shoto, and Izuku. TodoIida is often shipped in a triad with Izuku Midoriya as well due to the events of that arc. However, fans of TodoIida were disappointed to see Tenya pushed to the side in favour of Katsuki Bakugou in later seasons and chapters. This likely led to TodoIida being overshadowed and forgotten about, despite having so many works on AO3. Fans were glad to see Tenya and Shoto paired together for the Final War, as well as Tenya trying to connect with Shoto over both of them being younger brothers.
On AO3, the TodoIida currently has over 800 romantic works and over 350 platonic works.
