“Oh, I'm sorry! I haven't introduced myself yet! My name is Oichi. I've been on a journey with Jigglypuff here,.. B-But... Umm, i-if you don't mind... I'd like to join your army, Lord <hero's name>. Would you be willing to have me?”
— Oichi asking the Hero to join his army in Aurora kingdom

The Hero is the Aurora warlord alongside Oichi. According to the game's description, he is a youth in possession of a rare talent to communicate on a deep level with Pokémon of all kinds. This Warrior's friendship with Eevee dates back to childhood. It's one of the two playable characters that can be chosen at the start of the game, the other being the Heroine. It's said that the male Hero is canon due to him based on a real life person from the Japan history unlike the Heroine.

Oichi, although she comes from Dragnor, her brother Nobunaga's kingdom, she is a girl that later becomes the second Warlord alongside the Hero. According to the game's description, she's a sweet, kindhearted young girl who is not without strength and resolve. By nature she is not drawn to battle but has nonetheless learned to embrace it when necessary.

In the gameplay, only in the first story "The Legend of Ransei", the Hero always must take Oichi alongside him into battles that involve him battling opponent Warlords for their kingdoms until they defeat Nobunaga two times and end the story.

The Legend of Ransei[]

Legend has it that the Hero and Oichi were recognized as a pair of warriors from Aurora who, despite appearing weak, they managed to defeat Nobunaga and thus witness the arrival of Arceus and moments later, brought peace to the entire Ransei region.

At the beginning of this story, the Hero had just become a new warlord of the Aurora kingdom. There was a mysterious girl with a Jigglypuff who did not stop looking at him without him noticing her, when she suddenly gets scared by the presence of 3 kid friends who turned out to be Mitsunari, Kiyomasa and Masanori, who examined their new warlord. However, the peace of his new kingdom was short-lived, as a pair of warriors from the neighboring kingdom Ignis, named Koroku and Nagayasu began to invade Aurora kingdom to challenge him to battle.

This pair of warriors put up a Tepig and a Bidoof to fight. Realizing that the Hero fights only with his faithful companion Eevee, they underestimated him thinking that it would be easier to beat him, however, the mysterious girl joins the Hero's side with her Jigglypuff. Because Ignis's warriors kept underestimating, they were easily defeated and had to retreat back to Ignis.

Later, the hero and the mysterious girl stay chatting in the Aurora kingdom. She introduces herself as Oichi and with a very thoughtful and anxious tone, asks her to stay with him and the two of them alone form a small Aurora army. If the hero accepts without hesitation, she is happy and begins to serve him as her "personal master". If the hero denies her request, she persists and insists that he let her stay with him and form the small army together until he agrees.

Together, Oichi, along with her new Aurora warlord, explored their kingdom and managed to train their Pokémon before counterattacking Ignis. Some time later, upon invading Ignis, the Hero and Oichi with their army make an appearance on behalf of Aurora to challenge Hideyoshi, the Warlord of the Ignis kingdom.

Just before the battle, Hideyoshi tried to flirt with Oichi by calling her a "cutie" to try and have her in his army, but Oichi refused to do so and decided to fight on the side of her master, the Hero warlord of the Aurora kingdom. Hideyoshi assured that his victory would make her change her mind. And of course, he didn't get it since he was defeated and lost his Ignis castle. As he had sworn an oath to conquer all kingdoms and see the Legendary Pokémon, Hideyoshi ran away to the kingdom of Viperia, where his girlfriend Nene was waiting for him.

With the Ignis kingdom in their possession, the Hero and Oichi were surprised by a strange man with powerful muscular strength. This man, after introducing himself as Keiji, was surprised when the hero still didn't know how to make allies. Keiji decides to teach both how to make allies and done this he disappeared for the time being. With this new knowledge the Hero and Oichi managed to conquer two neighboring kingdoms Greenleaf and Fontaine, elegantly defeating their respective warlords Motonari and Motochika.

Later, conquering the Violight kingdom, they defeated their warlord Ginchiyo. They later visited the kingdom of Chrysalia to visit their warlord Yoshimoto. More than accepting the challenge, he preferred to play with the Hero and Oichi over a very peculiar game called Pokémari. Pokémari are balls that are used in battle, causing damage to the Pokémon that falls on it. However, when Yoshimoto lost the game against the Hero and Oichi, the villagers of Chrysalia told him that due to his loss, he would no longer be Warlord of Chrysalia, to which Yoshimoto is extremely surprised.

The hero and Oichi have already been preparing to conquer one of the two kingdoms, Illusio and Terrera, which are said to be the most powerful in Ransei due to their powerful warlords Kenshin and Shingen, who have a very strong rivalry with each other. Determined, the Hero and Oichi visit one of the two kingdoms to challenge one of these warlords to a battle, however neither accepts the challenge due to the Hero and Oichi still looking weak against them. Dissatisfied, Oichi returns to the kingdom from which she came with the hero but one hope is still fulfilled: Kunoichi or Aya, depending on the kingdom visited, appear to challenge the hero without their respective kingdom bosses and battle in the last kingdom visited by the hero before advancing. Upon being defeated, Kunoichi or Aya retreat to their respective kingdoms, although the hero is unable to invade or conquer his kingdoms for the time being.

But nonetheless, Oichi sensed something in the Hero: He was transforming, similar to Pokémon evolutions. Now the Hero would look more powerful than before, with a more powerful appearance, enough to convince either Kenshin or Shingen to accept his challenge. After managing to defeat one of the most powerful warlords, the other appears claiming that he has seen the battle and the two warlords are convinced to join the side of the Hero and Oichi to defeat Nobunaga.

Later, after months, the Hero and Oichi after conquering a few more kingdoms, found Hideyoshi with Nene and battled them and of course, defeated them, causing Hideyoshi to retreat to Dragnor.

After conquering nearly all of Ransei's kingdoms, they came to Dragnor to challenge Nobunaga to battle. Although Nobunaga had it easy, he was defeated. Therefore, the Hero and Oichi witnessed the arrival of Arceus and after forming a bond with them, they faced Nobunaga and all the warlords of Ransei for the last time. Upon defeating everyone, Arceus said that they won't see each other again until the hero has more worth. This made the Hero and Oichi decide to return all conquered kingdoms to their original owners.

When all the Warlords left, the Hero planned to return to the Aurora Kingdom alone to continue ruling over it, but Oichi offered to stay with him.

“So, everyone's gone... But Lord <hero's name>... I'd like to stay with you, if that's all right”

Fanon[]

TomodachiShipping is the most popular ship within the Pokémon Conquest fandom, but not in the entire Pokémon universe. One of the reasons for its popularity is that the Hero and Oichi always battle together during the "Legend of Ransei" story, with Oichi's motivation to serve only him.

Another reason for its popularity is its increased likelihood of possibly becoming canon due to the Hero bearing a striking resemblance to, and is thus likely the game counterpart of, Oichi's real life husband, Nagamasa Azai. In real life, Nagamasa was Oichi's second husband, with whom he had 3 daughters: Chacha, Hatsu and Gō, who curiously are also in the aforementioned Pokémon Conquest game as warriors instead of Warlords. Something similar also happens in other games where Nagamasa and Oichi are also present, particularly in Samurai Warriors.

TomodachiShipping usually has friction with the fans of WarlordShipping (Hero x Heroine) by the Hero's side and MikataShipping (Heroine x Oichi) and any Oichi x male warlord ship on Oichi's side.
