- I came today, only in order to help you remove the most difficult nail. I believe that you can give this a good end, Jelena-chan.
- —Jade to Topaz in "Life Is But A Drifting Dream".
Topajade is the femslash ship between Topaz and Jade from the Honkai: Star Rail fandom.
Canon[]
Topaz and Jade are both employees of the Interastral Peace Corporation under the Strategic Investment Department, and fellow Ten Stonehearts. Topaz is currently rank P44 and the leader of the Special Debts Picket Team, and spends her time traversing The Cosmos, tracking down various debts for the IPC. Whilst information on Jade is still limited, it is confirmed by her second character story that she is rank P46, and is overall a very influential member of the Ten Stonehearts, being able to make very important decisions for the IPC. Topaz and Jade's cornerstones are "Topaz Of Debt Retrieval" and "Jade Of Credit" respectively.
The relationship between Topaz and Jade is one built on genuine mutual trust and respect between one another, with them being one of the few members of the Ten Stonehearts who genuinely work and get along with one another. The two's trust for one another is notable in game, but particularly when Jade lets Topaz handle the remaining negotiations because she fully trusts Topaz to give the project a good end, and Topaz being completely willing to risk her topaz stone to cover for Jade, with Cornerstones being noted to be more important than the Stonehearts' lives. Jade holds strong affection for Topaz, more present in Chinese where the tone of their relationship is much more intimate and playful than other languages, and shows notable kindness and affection towards Topaz that she does not extended to anyone else. In turn, Topaz has a very high and positive view of Jade, which can easily be interpreted as having an implied crush on Jade, considering her an important person and speaking highly of her her frequently, notably looking the happiest she had ever been in the scene when she and Jade first interacted with another on The Radiant Feldspar.
Express Visitor Interactions[]
The first ever mention of Jade in the game came from Topaz herself, in one of her Express Visitor interactions, said interaction foreshadowing at their future relationship. Upon approaching Topaz at the Express, the main character comments that she seems to be on the phone, and she appears to be very busy, talking to multiple people at once. After some talk Topaz then repeats back the statement that Jade is looking for her, asking the person on the line if they can tell Jade she will contact her in five minutes. Upon receiving news that someone else needs her, she says to put them on another line as she currently has something urgent to take care of and will reply later, said urgent matter likely being needing to contact Jade.
Character Stories[]
Topaz's third character story features a report sent to Jade by a man called Francisco Dvorski, recommending Topaz to her. Francisco thanks Jade for the strong support she constantly provided to Marketing Team 166, going on to tell Jade he wants to recommend and introduce a particular employee of his team to her, namely Topaz. He states that he assumes Jade has surely heard of Topaz's achievements and business performance, and that he has attached Topaz's work reports for Jade to read, as well as a feedback file conducted by members of Marketing Team 166. Francisco goes on to praise Topaz's thinking and work ethic, stating she has demonstrated extraordinary capability and thinking in business, and if she were to take over his place as the leader of Marketing Team 166, it would be a guaranteed success for the revenue and success rate. He states that he is certain with the potential Topaz has, her career will not stop here and will surely make bigger achievements in the future, remarking that he hopes Jade will be able to take good care of Topaz and look out for her, and he trusts Jade already had her eye on her.
Jade's fourth character story reveals how she originally came into collaboration with both Topaz and Aventurine for the Penacony project. On that day, Jade was at Bonajade Exchange, when Topaz and Aventurine arrived at her door and knocked. As the door opened silently, the two saw Jade amidst the smoke, prompting her to stop her weighing of the collateral with the scales and pour tea for them. Jade remarks to Aventurine that she expected he would be chosen to handle Penacony, before turning her attention to Topaz and remarking he seems to have a new ally. The two sit down as Jade asks what they need to recover Penacony's bad debt, to which Aventurine tells Jade he needs her cornerstone. Jade remarks to Aventurine this is the first time she has been asked such a request, asking him what he is willing to pay in return, to which Topaz answers their cornerstones, with Aventurine adding on his life, as he needs to cut upon a hole in Penacony. Jade's eyes meet both of theirs, moments of the past flashes by, freezing on the first time she met the two. Jade then places a miniature model of Penacony on one end of the scales, and the topaz, aventurine and jade stones on the other end one by one, all the while stating that they each have their own origins and ends, and their journey together may be short or long but they must continue to fulfill the contract they originally signed, and there is no priceless thing beyond value in this world, therefore everything can be mortgaged in some way. When the jade stone was placed on the scales, the scale completely titled as it fell over, with Jade delivering the finishing line that they shall exchange them for the future of Penacony.
Daily Messages[]
In Jade's second daily message, she reaches out to the main character, asking if they know the term "managing up", stating that younger IPC employees have been discussing it lately. She goes on to say the quote "Although Director Topaz handles matters in a swift and decisive way, she still can listen to suggestions as required." before stating a quote about Aventurine. Jade then states that in fact, people can "managing up" with her, as she wants to help those who come after her do their best to polish themselves. If the main character chooses to ask if The Ten Stonehearts polish themselves too, Jade states that of course they do, as cutting cornerstones is only the first step, and only if they sharpen their hearts and build unbreakable walls can they see a broader horizon of the world.
In Jade's third daily message, she messages the main character with another inquiry, this time on their thoughts on children, and what they thing a child's happiness would look like. Regardless of how the main character responds to her question, Jade states that she asked both Topaz and Aventurine that same question. Jade goes on to say that both Topaz and Aventurine's definitions of happiness have now changed, but regarding their views on a child's happiness, they both share a similar view to the main character, and believes that the children in the orphanage would feel the same way.
A Walk Among The Tombstones[]
A conversation between Jade and Topaz is shown after Aventurine's "death" in "A Walk Among The Tombstones", presumably taking place over the phone. Topaz remarks that the aventurine's stone light has now disappeared, meaning only one result could have happened. Jade affirms her statement, remarking that he kept his promise, before adding that he got the death he wanted. After a moment of silence, Topaz informs Jade that just like in their plan, her cornerstone had been successfully sent to The Family's territory, to which Jade remarks that it is now time to fulfill their responsibility and start the "harvest". Jade then goes on a monologue to activate her cornerstone, stating she comes to Penacony for an audience, intending to regain claim of Penacony, all dedicated to The Amber Lord.
All About Eve[]
With Aventurine having successfully completed his part, and Jade on her way to Penacony, Topaz boards The Radiant Feldspar to attend an important meeting together with Jade. Topaz is greeted by an IPC employee named Thomas, who informs her that the "Big Boss", namely Jade, has not arrived yet, so the meeting will not start for a while. Topaz comments on how impressive the luxury airship is, surprised that the location for the conference was not more formal. Thomas informs her that the airship belongs to Oti Alfalfa, yet thinks the meeting should have been held somewhere more serious, to which Topaz states that she thinks the conference is just an "appetizer" to figure out what the IPC wants. Thomas praises Topaz's mind and asks her to please remind the "Big Boss" when she arrives to be more cautious. Topaz laughs in response and thanks Thomas for his reminder, stating teasingly about Jade that she does not think it is necessary, as when she is sitting together at a negotiation table with Jade, the other party is always the one who needs to be careful. She reminds Thomas to stay focused, and then states that she needs to tell him one more thing, placing her hands on her hips to warn him to not call Jade "Big Boss" in front of her, again teasingly speaking about Jade by stating that doing so could get someone killed, and she is not joking.
Leaving a panicked Thomas behind, Topaz takes the elevator down to the lower level to wait for Jade's arrival and the beginning of the meeting. As no one has arrived yet, Topaz decides to pass some time whilst waiting by taking a look around at everything. Topaz feeds Numby some Dream food, stops to have a conversation with Sparkle disguised as a Family Guard about the buttons lying around, and learns more about The Radiant Feldspar from a Family Attendant, before she receives a phone call through her earpiece. Exasperated, Topaz asks if it is the Talent Motivation Department again, stating she is working on an important project right now and does not have time to tell everyone off. Topaz becomes more annoyed once the Jarilo project is brought up, stating that it was approved by senior management and they can check the records themselves, asking why they are so focused on that small case. Jade then comments from behind Topaz that it sounds like a tiring conversation, and Topaz should hang up. Topaz turns around, surprised, and sees Jade behind her, who remarks that she thinks Topaz handled the project very well, and promptly tosses away the folder she was holding. As Numby hides behind Topaz in fear, Topaz reaches a hand back to reassure him, staring transfixed at Jade as she walks towards Topaz, Jade stating that a small ball of ice in exchange for the Express's favor is a good profit for the IPC. Jade smiles genuinely at Topaz, stating that it has been a while, and calling her Jelena-chan, to which Topaz beams back, blushing lightly. Jade approaches Topaz and reaches her hand out, softly caressing Topaz's hair and telling her that she had always been looking forward to working together with her, and never thought the day would come so fast, causing Topaz to blush bright red. Jade asks Topaz if she ran into any trouble, stating that Topaz can tell her anything, just like in the past, smiling gently and genuinely once more.
Topaz enthusiastically greets Jade in return, stating it really has been a while and she is very honored to have the opportunity to work together with Jade. Jade remarks that Topaz is still so formal, and to please forget about the superior subordinate hierarchy, just treat Jade as her colleague and equal, omitting unnecessary titles. Topaz laughs and apologizes that it is still hard to get used to, as Jade is a senior, to which Jade states they are both members of The Ten Stonehearts, and all she needs is Topaz to just do her best in the upcoming negotiations. Jade goes on to say that someone as smart as Topaz must have figured out the true purpose of the meeting a long time ago, prompting Topaz to respond that she thinks Oti is trying to figure out the truth behind what the IPC want before the negotiations begin. Jade states she is right, but that it is actually better for them this way, asking if she knows why. Topaz ponders that if they can reach an agreement with Oti in advance, and figure out his boundaries, future negotiations will be much more smooth, to which Jade agrees, revealing that the hidden benefit is his behavior suggests the five Family lineages are not as united as they are said to be.
Jade goes on to say that as long as The Harmony's influence has not completely permeated deep, desires will always have a place, and they are lucky the influential figures in Penacony have not completely lost their own desires, comparing it to the power struggles within the IPC, as the "united as one" philosophy is now just a slogan due to the Dreammaster's death. Topaz comments that after The Oak Family's downfall, Oti is now the largest force in Penacony, as well as being the longest serving amongst The Family heads. Jade remarks that that is exactly why the meeting needs to be handled based on their agreed upon strategy, like playing a game of chess where you must always assess the situation with every move. Topaz agrees, bringing up the three steps of negotiation: listen, test, reveal the knife, that were taught to her by Jade. A teasing smile appears on Jade's face as states that is right, before laughing gently and remarking to Topaz that she seemed to have reversed the order in the Jarilo case. Topaz laughs quietly in response and tells Jade that she made the choice based on her personal feelings. The Family Attendant that Topaz spoke to previously walks up, and apologizes for interrupting their conversation, stating that Oti is now ready to meet them for the meeting. Jade remarks to Topaz it is time for them to get to work, telling her to keep her spirits up and prepare to meet the esteemed "supporting actor", reminding Topaz their goal is to create a chance for the IPC to enter Penacony, and together they are going to tear the hole Aventurine made completely open.
Topaz and Jade make their way together to the meeting to begin the negotiations and sit down, and are welcomed by Oti, who apologizes for making them wait outside. Jade says it is both her and Topaz's honor to meet him, and that his biography is a must read for IPC employees. Topaz agrees, stating that to many, Oti is known as a legendary figure who built the Penacony economic system. Oti laughs and says they are really The Ten Stonehearts when they talk like that, and he likes talking with smart people because they can get straight to the point, asking if they have guessed the topic he wants to discuss. Jade states that she guesses that the topic he wants to discuss is Penacony's future, to which Oti laughs that she is right, asking if Aventurine's goal was to create an opportunity for the IPC to regain control of Asdana. Jade comments that Oti is wise and experienced, stating that if his assumptions were true, how would he respond, prompting Topaz to turn to look at her. Oti responds that Jade has good composure, but her understanding of Penacony is not deep enough, and he is not going to sit idly by when faced with a greedy salivating wolf like her. Topaz's expression becomes notably angry at the insult to Jade, turning her head to the left slightly, whilst Jade tells Oti to please continue. Oti tells the two that he intends to persuade the IPC to completely give up on Penacony, and if they retreat now they can make a more dignified exit that helps the IPC save face.
Jade sits there with a frown, whilst Topaz becomes notably angrier, stating that the IPC can not ignore the Aventurine incident, and with the riots during The Charmony Festival, Penacony's credibility has dropped to a new low, and the dilemma in Penacony is very much real. Oti states that real does not matter, as they are in a dream, and he intends to respond to the crisis by "going public", prompting Topaz to question what that means, to which Jade asks Oti if he intends to bypass the IPC by going public. Oti states this is exactly what he intends to do, and starting today anyone in the Cosmos can become a shareholder of Penacony, an action that should have been done long ago if not for The Oak Family, and will show the universe that even after disaster Penacony still holds potential. Topaz frowns at this, whilst Jade makes a small sound of thought, before stating that he had been waiting for the right moment, namely a crisis, to cause Penacony to regain everyone's attention once more, prompting Topaz to once more turn to look at her. Jade goes on to say that then if the IPC tries to get involved, all their moves will be exposed to trillions of people, to which Oti laughs that she seems is indeed familiar with his biography, and to consider their next move carefully. Jade responds that they need time to digest the huge amount of information, suggesting that they end the first half of the meeting here, and asking if he would please allow her and Topaz to discuss everything privately before they respond on behalf of the IPC, to which Topaz again turns to look at Jade, this time only for a quick moment. Oti agrees, saying they can take their time, causing Jade and Topaz turn to look at each other, to which Jade gives a small nod to Topaz, signifying it is okay to leave.
Life Is But A Drifting Dream[]
With the meeting not having started smoothly, Topaz and Jade make their way to the bar lounge to discuss strategy for the second half of the meeting. Topaz remarks that Oti is really difficult to deal with, and she never expected him to take the risky step of deciding to go public now of all times, to which Jade agrees, stating Oti is very bold, but that is what made him the person he is today. Jade goes on to say that the outcome has not tipped in favor of one side yet, and no matter how loud you shout, it has no effect, asking Topaz if there has been a follow up to the phone call she asked her to make to someone, namely Himeko, and Topaz responds that Himeko agreed but it will take a while for her to arrive. Jade states that that is just right, so "sweet dew" shall be served after the "bitter poison", and Topaz smiles that it seems this time they will be skipping the "exchanging apples" step. Jade laughs that no one said Oti was a greedy merchant, so an apple would not solve the problem, and it seems that she also accidentally injured herself in that remark.
Jade goes on to state that she is curious if in Topaz's opinion, Penacony is a high quality asset, and Topaz responds that yes, with good credit and promising potential, Penacony is undeniably a high quality asset. Jade muses that that is of course true, and what she really wanted to know was that Penacony was too boring for Topaz's taste, to which Topaz laughs and agrees, stating Jade is right and she only ended up coming here because she was pulled in by Aventurine. Jade states that nonetheless Topaz seems to trust him, given she was willing to bet her Cornerstone, to which Topaz asks that is it not the same for Jade, as without them following the bet, Jade's jade stone would have never made it into Penacony for give her a view of all the desires flowing in the dream. Topaz goes on to say that she is of course also willing to risk her topaz stone to cover for Jade, and it is truly a big game of chess. Jade remarks that when Aventurine is determined to do something, nothing can stop him, but at least he is alive, causing Topaz to remark that the conversation is off topic, and asks if they should discuss their next step. Jade reassures Topaz that it is okay, and she will go in alone, and Topaz can instead go and greet Himeko, and wait for her news, to which Topaz nods in agreement, and takes her leave.
After Topaz takes her leave, Jade notices Robin on The Radiant Feldspar, and walks up to her, engaging in polite discussion about The Charmony Festival and Penacony's future, before making her way back to the meeting with Oti. Upon returning to the meeting, Jade thanks Oti for waiting and states that negotiations can resume, to which Oti asks if she figured out a counterattack already, before turning to look for Topaz, asking where she is. Jade states that Topaz has a task to take care of, but will be returning later, and the talks can continue with just the two of them. Oti asks if it is just his imagination or that Jade's tone of words sounds very different now, to which Jade remarks that she has to set a good example of herself in front of Topaz, as it is not a good habit to speak without restraint during negotiations.
The negotiations take a slightly more hostile turn as Jade gets straight to the point and tells Oti that his plan is impossible to realize and the IPC has no intentions of giving up on entering Penacony, going on to say that he had better give up his plan otherwise the IPC will send out a message saying that The Family's protection for Penacony has expired. Jade continues to politely threaten Oti, then stating if he agrees to give up his plan and is willing to give 30% of equity shares to the IPC, the IPC will help rebuild Penacony. After Jade finishes by revealing that the IPC just wants to establish eternal Preservation, Oti states that everything was well said and he agrees to her terms. Jade then calls out to Topaz, asking her to bring "Sweet Dew", namely Himeko, to join them at the negotiation table, prompting Topaz and Himeko to walk in, to which Jade thanks Himeko for her presence, introducing Himeko to Oti. Jade states that the IPC will transfer 5% of the 30% of the equity shares to The Astral Express, as The Express will be one of the shareholders of Penacony. Himeko remarks that everyone has agrees to assist in rebuilding Penacony, and are committed to bringing Penacony to more worlds in the future, however a tragedy like Penacony's Harmony being distorted must never happen again.
Due to the negotiations having been successfully completed, Topaz and Jade make their way back to Jade's VIP guest room together to discuss the details of the meeting, and what they intend to do aboard the Radiant Feldspar. Topaz asks Jade if now that Oti is in agreement, everything is settled, and how many Family heads are left, to which Jade responds that it is okay, and they will soon also realize the situation, as when Oti answered the last question he was representing more than just the Alfalfa Family. Topaz then asks when would be the best time to schedule the formal meeting, and that she will handle all the arrangements, however Jade tells her that it is all up to Topaz, it is okay for her to step back and leave the negotiation and handover work for Topaz to take over, and she will not be involved. Shocked, Topaz questions if it is really okay, to which Jade says that Topaz was Aventurine's designated project partner, and if not for Aventurine going too far she would not have been pushed to the front. Jade goes on to gently say that she came today only to help Topaz with the most difficult issue, and she believes that Topaz will be able to give the project a good end, calling her Jelena-chan. Topaz affirms Jade's statement, assuring Jade there will definitely be no problems, and asking her to please rest assure Diamond too, to which Jade tells Topaz not to worry, as Diamond has always trusted them strongly, and she will put in a good word for Topaz to upgrade her back to P45 in no time.
Jade muses that The Radiant Feldspar is a nice ship, and now that the main business is done, she shall take care of her "hobby", to which Topaz asks if Jade wants to bring her Bonajade Exchange to the ship. Jade affirms Topaz's statement, stating that an opportunity like this is rare, and one look at the guests on the ship can tell they are definitely holding many valuable treasures. Jade states that everything is done now, and her pawn shop cannot open without her, turning to take her leave and telling Topaz she will see her later, but Topaz quickly asks Jade to please wait, as she has one more question for her. Jade turns back, telling Topaz she can just say it, to which Topaz says she is a little curious to know how Jade found the "bitter poison" information. Jade simply states she did not find it, but rather it came to her from a woman worried about The Harmony's future, namely Robin, and in exchange she agreed to help her with something later, but she can take care of it after they leave Penacony. Jade goes on to say that that is what investment is, once the seeds of opportunity have been buried they need a little nourishment to take root and sprout, and all you have to do is wait patiently, and right now, the final guest she is waiting for should be boarding the ship.
A Thousand Bells At Dawn[]
The ending cutscene of "A Thousand Bells At Dawn" where Firefly "sacrifices" herself, prompting Sparkle's fireworks to go off, shows several characters on the screen, notably Topaz and Jade, who are shown sitting at a table together with fireworks going off behind them. The two are both gazing downwards in thought, but Jade then turns to face Topaz, raising her glass towards Topaz in a toast, prompting Topaz to notably perk up as she looks up at Jade.
Checking Out[]
A minor interaction between Topaz and Jade is featured in the Adventure Mission "Checking Out" where the main character, currently working as the manager of Hotel Reverie, runs into the IPC checking out. Aventurine and Topaz first appear, greeting the main character, to which Topaz jokingly asks about them taking up a desk job at the IPC, to which the main character genuinely considers it. This prompts Aventurine and Topaz to begin loudly arguing with one another, said fight being intercepted by Jade shortly, who states she could hear them arguing even from far away. Topaz quickly apologizes to Jade for arguing, and offers up her room card to the main character, which triggers more arguing from Topaz and Aventurine, causing Jade to laugh and remark that despite being top elites in the IPC, when other people are not around they are more like hot-headed younger people.
Jade takes the room cards from Aventurine and Topaz and hands them to the main character, successfully checking the three of them out. Jade then suggests that the four of them take a photo together, and Topaz agrees with Jade, stating it is not easy for all of them to meet each other like this. The four then take the photo, with Topaz and Jade standing next to each other, and the main character on Topaz's left whilst Aventurine is on Jade's right. After the photo is taken, Topaz compliments the main character's photo taking skills, to which Jade agrees, saying it is really worth of praise. Jade then states that the IPC's private jet will be leaving soon, and expresses her gratitude once more, before she and Topaz both say goodbye to the main character, the three of them taking their leave.
Origami Bird Clash[]
In the "Origami Bird Clash" event quest, it is revealed by Silver Wolf that one of the reasons why she was interested in the Origami Bird Clash game was because it a joint collaboration project between The Family and the IPC, being managed by the IPC. Later on, after having played many games, the main character is called back by Tinah, to which they run into Jade. Jade comments that there are lots of familiar people here, and she never expected to see everyone again so soon. March and Robin greet Jade, and Jade states that she only stopped by with the intent to do Topaz a favor by checking on the progress of the project, and did not expect there to be a surprise like this. The main character then plays a round of the game against Tinah and receives the Jadebird, after which Jade declines the offer to take a group photo with everyone, and then engages in discussion with Robin.
Keeping Up With Star Rail[]
For Jade's Keeping Up With Star Rail, Topaz was invited by Owlbert to co-host alongside him and introduce Jade. The episode begins with Owlbert stating there is a legend that when a person is in despair and willing to give up everything, they can submit an application to the Strategic Investment Department to be given one last chance by Jade, and that many desperate people have become her clients, introducing her as the star of today's episode. Owlbert states that in order to learn more about her business theories, Jade's most outstanding junior, Topaz, has been invited to join them. Topaz greets everyone, and Owlbert thanks her for finding time to come despite being on a business trip, to which Topaz states the episode is about introducing Jade, so she could not afford to miss it even if she was busy, and after all she can take it as an opportunity to review Jade's teachings. Owlbert goes on to fangirl over Topaz, stating that he is honored to host with Topaz and admires her just as much as she admires Jade. Topaz quickly tells him to stop and reminds him that this episode is about introducing Jade and not her, and they should get to the topic, so Owlbert promptly launches into a description of Jade's gameplay and mechanics.
Whilst describing the Debt Collector feature, Owlbert states when the Debt Collector performs an attack, the enemies suffer additional damage from Jade, prompting Topaz to remark Jade's investments are not a free benefit, and if you want to get something from her you must be prepared to pay a fair price. Owlbert returns to explaining how the Debt Collector feature ties into Jade's kit, and goes on to say when Charge reaches a certain number of stacks, Jade consumes the Charge and launches a follow up attack, and Topaz then quotes what Jade always says, "Life is too short, don't miss golden opportunities", and that no matter where it is, Jade never lets go of on opportunity and always pursues victory. Owlbert goes on to describe the features of Jade's follow up attacks, and the Pawned Asset feature. Topaz then states that Jade often taught her that rewards are not reaped overnight, and as the most outstanding lender Jade is best at waiting, such as waiting for the best opportunity to use the knife in hand to leverage everything. Owlbert then states that Topaz really knows all of Jade's teachings, prompting Topaz to laugh and blush lightly as she states that Jade is the senior that she respects the most, to which Owlbert looks towards the camera with a raised eyebrow and makes an amused sound of knowing. Owlbert returns to talking about Jade's kit, this time her technique, and then describing how her ultimate is able to enhance her follow up attack, to which Topaz remarks that Jade is always composed and never shows her emotions, but you should not challenge her limits, as if Jade decides to take action no one can escape the fate of being swallowed by the abyss. Owlbert then questions if Topaz had ever made Jade angry, and Topaz laughs nervously and says that she came a little bit closer.
With the episode coming to a close, Jade and her chosen ally, Herta, then prepare to engage in battle with the enemies. Topaz comments that cooperating with the right business partner is half of the battle won, and Jade never fails. As Jade and Herta proceed to finish off the enemies, Topaz claps her hands and smiles, eagerly stating as is expected of Jade, handling everything resolutely and easily. A new wave of enemies arrive, but are almost immediately finished off thanks to Jade and Herta, finishing off the battle. Owlbert then reminds the audience to use their free time to study Jade's methods on getting wealth, to which Topaz comments Owlbert seems to be very motivated. Topaz then states she has a meeting to attend to, and takes her leave, before returning a few seconds later in the middle of Owlbert's rant about his job, reminding him about the short video pet program proposal that was originally proposed, before taking her leave truly, the episode then ending.
Lady Bonajade Handbook Web Event[]
In the "Lady Bonajade Handbook Web Event", Jade approaches the main character at the Dreamjolt Hostelry with the intention for them to partner with her and assist her Bonajade Exchange. She introduces herself, and if the player chooses to respond with the option "Hello. Do I know you?" Jade states that the main character is very sharp when it comes to defense, just like what Topaz said. After some discussion, the main character agrees to be Jade's temporary partner for her Bonajade Exchange and the player is taken to the "main menu" and is able to read one of Jade's "voicelines", which states that the IPC is fulled of talented people but only a few can stand out and rise above, and because the main character has been recognized and recommended by Topaz, they should not disappoint Jade and let her down.
Later when doing the fourth exchange, Topaz is the one to show up, and greets the main character warmly, stating if they have the opportunity to be mentored by Jade her advice is to definitely make the most of it. Topaz states that as a former partner of Bonajade Exchange, she does not want to make things difficult for the main protagonist, and offers up her item, a dream bubble featuring her as the main character in a guide to workplace communication. If the deal is completed successfully before Topaz's patience points run out, the main character makes their offer and Topaz states she is pleased with the offer and shares Jade's three step negotiation method: "first listen, second test, and finally reveal the knife" as a "gift" to the main character. If the deal is not completed successfully before Topaz's patience points run out, Jade herself joins the transaction and tells Topaz not to leave in a hurry, calling her Jelena-chan. She reminds Topaz that when she first joined the IPC she struggled with grasping the scale of business, and that nowadays they should always allow newcomers room for mistakes, proposing an alternative offer. Topaz agrees to the deal and says she will consider the premium as compensation for value of time, and wishes Jade good luck and success in her future transactions, stating she will see her later.

Fanon[]
Topajade was originally a very rare pairing that was not well known amongst both the Western and Eastern fandom. A couple of people first began to ship them in 1.4, due to Topaz mentioning Jade in one of her Express Visitor interactions, which got some people to consider them having potential as a ship. After Jade was leaked to be an upcoming playable character, as well as one of The Ten Stonehearts, more people took an interest in them, however Topajade still remained as a very rare pairing with only a few dedicated shippers.
After Jade's appearance was revealed in the 2.1 quest, many more people took an interest in Topajade. One artist in particular took a great liking to Topajade, creating the first fanart[2]. Said fanart quickly gained lots of views and likes, and caused many fans to begin shipping Topajade. A few days later, the same artist posted another fanart[3], gaining even more likes and views than the first one. Due to the large amount of people viewing the art, Topajade's following increased extremely significantly, with both artists and writers being inspired to create their own content of Topajade.
In the Western fandom, some people have expressed their dislike towards Topajade due to the presumed age difference between the two, or simply highlight how they prefer to see them as a familial ship. However, most fans typically enjoy the presumed age difference between the two, and believe that Jade is perfectly Topaz's type. Furthermore, Western fans like to headcanon Topaz as a "milf hunter" due to her suggestive interactions with Himeko, and the voiceline in which she asks Asta how her mother is, which furthers the belief that Jade is her type. Additionally, most shippers like to lean into the idea of Topaz taking on the more dominant role in the relationship, making jokes about her name being "TOPaz". However, in the Eastern fandom, it is the opposite case, as almost all of the shippers see Jade taking on the dominant role, said dynamic drawn in artworks and furthered by the Chinese and Japanese ship names being "翡托" and "ジェイトパ".
After the 2.3 livestream trailer revealed the intimate scene between Topaz and Jade of them smiling at one another whilst Jade stroked a blushing Topaz, Topajade quickly gained a new influx of popularity. Players in both the Eastern and Western fandom quickly went to Twitter to post about the scene, stating that Topajade was "canon" or "real". Fans were quick to comment on how suggestive it was that Topaz's smile when touched by Jade was very different from her usual expression, as well as Jade's smile looking genuinely happy to see her, and Jade calling her "Little Jelena". Several veteran fans of Topajade were extremely happy to see the content between the two, joking about it happening in June because of Pride Month or that HoYoVerse saw the Topajade arts. Topajade quickly gained the attention of artists and writers, receiving a couple of new fanfictions and a great many number of arts within the first few hours after the livestream. However, quite a few people in the Western fandom began to hate on Topajade and its shippers, calling Topajade a "proship" due to a belief that the scene was familial and confirmed them to be a family relationship, despite that not being the case, or a belief that Topajade was "toxic" and Jade was "manipulating" her. But Topajade was nonetheless well received, especially in the Eastern fandom where many people began to lean into the idea of shipping Topajade alongside the extremely popular Ratiorine, and coming up with "double date" scenarios of the four.
After the actual release of both 2.3 and Jade, Topajade did not gain much new significant popularity, however the popularity gained from the livestream remained and they were still spoken about often, in the Western fandom the hate towards them decreasing somewhat due to the dynamic shown. Most fans of Topajade were surprised, but very happy, to see how wholesome the relationship between the two was, and the genuine mutual trust and feelings they have between one another. Topaz's voiceline about Jade sparked some discussion, and it is common belief by Topajade fans that Topaz is in love with Jade due to the way she speaks about her, with many fans also joking that in Jade's "Keeping Up With Star Rail", even Owlbert could tell she was in love with her.
Topajade is often shipped alongside Ratiorine, especially amongst the Japanese fandom where they are very well liked, due to the four all being the currently playable IPC employees, with the two sometimes appearing as a side ship in Ratiorine fanfictions or often appearing together with them in fanarts. Japanese fans especially like to pair off the four IPC characters with one another in a double date dynamic, helped by Ratiorine's strong popularity and Topajade's strong ship tease. Additionally, the achievement for winning a battle with Aventurine, Jade, Ratio and Topaz is often considered to be a "double date" achievement by shippers.
Currently, Topajade have 100+ works on AO3.

Trivia[]
- In Chinese, Japanese and English, Jade calls Topaz an affectionate nickname, "小叶琳娜", "エレーナちゃん", and "Little Jelena" respectively. So far Topaz is the only Stoneheart Jade actively calls by their real name, and the only person she calls an affectionate honorific such as "小" and "ちゃん", notably only present as a nickname in private, as she calls her "Topaz" in public.
- Additionally, in the Japanese text of Honkai: Star Rail, very few characters refer to another character as "ちゃん", as "ちゃん" is a very informal and affectionate honorific used to signify closeness, with it not being typical for one to call a colleague "ちゃん", signifying the close relationship between the two and how Jade feels towards her.
- Jade's voiceline when added to the same team as Topaz in Japanese is "フフ、私たちの連携は完璧よね。" ("Hehe, our cooperation is perfect.")
- In Japanese dub, when alone with Topaz, Jade's voice is notably much fonder and gentler than her usual authoritative and somewhat flirtatious tone, highlighting how Jade feels towards her. This is also present in her added to team with Topaz voiceline, the fondness being particularly noticeable.
- In Chinese dub, there is a slight difference in Jade's tone, sounding somewhat softer and slightly gentler, but not to as significant of a degree as Japanese.
- On Jade's Character Introduction, Topaz's Note says "The children's sincere smiles are probably the most precious treasures for Madam Jade."[4]
- Topaz has several recurring habits when it comes to Jade, notably that she is shown to often turn to glance at Jade, either when Jade is talking to her or just speaking in general, and often blushes when Jade is involved in conversation.
- In Jade's "Keeping Up With Star Rail", Topaz touches her cheek whilst talking about Jade, referencing how Jade touched her cheek when they reunited on The Radiant Feldspar.
- In "Future Market (II)" after Topaz is demoted only one rank, in the original CN text Aventurine comments that a senior above must really take care of Topaz for her to only be demoted one rank, which happens to be exactly what Francisco Dvorski asked Jade to do for Topaz in the CN text of her third character story.[5] In the EN text, Aventurine remarks that Topaz must have had someone looking out for her, which is also exactly what Francisco Dvorski asked Jade to do for Topaz in the EN text of her third character story.[6] Based on the wording of both the CN and EN text, as well as the shown dynamic on Jade's side regarding how she feels for Topaz, it is extremely likely that the said person is Jade.
- In Topaz's Character Story III, Dvorski announces his retirement to Jade, and recommends Topaz to her. Topaz's Character Story IV, set at his retirement party shortly after reveals that Topaz had been made a member of the Ten Stonehearts. Given it was shown in "All The Sad Tales" that Jade was able to easily induct Aventurine into the Ten Stonehearts, there is a chance that Jade was the one who personally inducted Topaz into The Ten Stonehearts.
- HoYoVerse themselves have officially sponsored a Topajade fanart posted on TikTok.[7]
- In the ending credits for Penacony, Topaz and Jade are listed as a cameo appearance under "Topaz and Jade", as opposed to being credited as singular characters.
- In the "Lady Bonajade Handbook" web event, for every single seller, Jade's Appraisal of the offered item is always lower than what the seller wants, however Jade's Appraisal for Topaz's offered item is different, as she instead notes it to be worth 100,000 rather than 80,000. Notably, the item Topaz offered was a dream bubble featuring her as the protagonist.
- In "Myriad Celestia Trailer: Stoneheart's Oath Ring: Both Ends Of The Scale", both Topaz and Jade vote in favor of keeping Aventurine as a member of The Ten Stonehearts.
- An official promotion video for Jiaoqiu "难不倒的椒师傅" (It's Not A Problem For Master Jiao) features him receiving calls from people to ask for advice, Jade being one of them, seeking advice on Topaz and Aventurine constantly fighting. Topaz and Jade are later seen having hotpot together with Aventurine, Jade constantly trying to keep the peace between them and choose something for them to eat.[8]
- Topaz and Jade both have "thigh belts" on their right thighs that are in almost the exact same spot.
- Topaz and Jade both share CN VA's with Honkai Impact 3rd characters, as Topaz's CN VA, Mace, is the voice of Fu Hua and the Herrscher of Sentience, whilst Jade's CN VA, Zhang Ruoyu, is the voice of the female Dreamseeker.
- Topaz's EN VA, Sam Slade, appears to ship Topajade[9] and has Retweeted Topajade art.
- Topaz's EN VA, Sam Slade, quoted the post of Jade's Keeping Up With Star Rail saying "We 🫶 Jade".[10]
- Topaz and Jade's JP VA's, Nanjō Yoshino and Mitsuishi Kotono, have worked together a total of 6 times currently.

- ↑ Translation note regarding why Jade says to Topaz not to call her "you". Jade says "不必要的称谓都可以省去————比如「女士」,比如「您」。" in the original Chinese text. "您" is a more polite and formal way of saying "you", as opposed to "你", which is more informal. In the previous dialogue, Topaz had said "翡翠女士,好久不见。能有机会和您合作,我非常荣幸。" to Jade, hence why she commented on Topaz's use of "您", as well as her use of "女士".
