Kyoka and Tsuyu do not interact all too much, due to their closer friendships with Momo and Ochako respectively. However, all the girls of 1-A seem to be notably close with one another, and Kyoka and Tsuyu aren’t an exception from this. The two both held a disdain for Katsuki upon first impression, stemming from the lack of mercy he portrayed upon Ochako during his and her fight during the Sports Festival. They comment to one another that their matchup was easily the ‘most disturbing’, and later, as Ochako becomes progressively more beat-up, that they felt pity for their friend, and couldn’t bear to continue watching. However, the message Katsuki simply treated her as equal later becomes one that both admire.
After the class breaks apart, Tsuyu and Kyoka, alongside Momo and Mezo, manage to gather/regroup. The four end up encountering a group of students from another hero high school, Seiai. A girl by the name of Saiko Intelli, alongside her ‘cronies’ discover the group as they enter the building they were occupying. Kyoka uses her earphone-jacks to listen through the walls for potential opponents, and deduces that there are four others. Ear-splittingly loud music is suddenly blasted through the wall Kyoka was listening through, which harms her, and knocks her to the ground. Tsuyu expresses concern at seeing Kyoka in pain.
Later, the four are trapped in a room by Saiko and the others. The room is set to become cold, which sends Tsuyu into a state of hibernation, due to her frog quirk. After figuring out a way to escape, the group realizes that they need to incapacitate their opponents; Momo creates an amplifier, which Kyoka uses to blast a piercing sound, which wakes Tsuyu from her slumber, and does as planned. They successfully manage to defeat, and escape, but Momo is left weak from her earlier creation (of the amplifier). Kyoka and Tsuyu help her to safety.
Like Mina, Tsuyu and Kyoka are amongst the characters most heavily speculated to be LGBTQ, due to implication given by their heavy interest in their female classmates, and lack of interest in the males, which brings attention to not just enjoyer of femslash/yuri pairings, but those who hope to see same-sex couples in the series. While the friendship between the two is not particularly notable compared to others, they still interact sweetly enough to draw a decent fanbase.
- Tsuyu and Kyoka are the two shortest girls in their class.
