Tsukumo Twins is the family ship between Ima Tsukumo and Kako Tsukumo from the The Hundred Line fandom.
Canon[]
Ima and Kako are twin siblings, and as Ima was born a few minutes before Kako, he is the older brother. Ima is openly described as a siscon, calls Kako with a term of endearment ("Imouto-chan" in Japanese; localized into "sister dearest"), and he is overprotective of, sometimes outright overpowering towards his younger sister. In addition to this, both his likes and dislikes only feature things related to his sister. Meanwhile, Kako, while she also calls him "brother dearest" (or just "Onii-chan" in Japanese), she constantly gets flustered over her brother's open showcase of affection and compliments towards her. At the same time, she is shown to be a curious girl and harbors the want to do things independently, without her brother instantly interfering or babying her.
Ima and Kako come from not-so-favorable conditions, as they are orphans who were passed among bad relatives, causing them to suffer at the hands of said relatives, and were homeless even at one point. According to Ima, they also used to forage for food a lot when they were younger. Due to this, they have twisted sense of taste, and through the Food-O-Matic, they are often shown recreating the strangest food combinations and recipes.
As a result of their past, Ima turned into an overprotective older brother and started doing shady side-gigs in order to provide for himself and his sister.
During their introduction scene, Ima says his name and immediately jumps into excessively praising Kako and remarking things such as how he'll endure any bodily discomfort for her sake, that next to her he's nothing but an unsightly creature, and how she's the most ultimate younger sister there is. Kako becomes flustered and blushy over his words, telling him he keeps going too far, however, Ima remarks how he adores her flustered state a lot and that every day he feels blessed for being born as her older brother. In his thoughts, Takumi states that he "can't understand their dynamic at all" and how it must be a twin thing.
When Sirei shows up to greet the squad and introduce himself, Ima is not very thrilled about hearing they have bombs planted inside them, as it implies that he operated on Kako without her consent, leading to him threatening Sirei. Kako tells him to quit it as she doesn't want him to get blown up. After Sirei urges everyone to join the frontlines and leaves, Kako in a shock asks what Sirei meant by "them losing all they hold dear" if they refuse to fight. Ima tells Kako to not think about it as it "has nothing to do with us" because they aren't planning on fighting, and when Takumi questions his words, Ima bluntly states Kako's safety will always be his first priority and as such, there's no way the two of them will join the fight. Kako looks to the side, appearing uncomfortable, but does not say anything.
After the first mission, in the cafeteria, as everyone learns that you will only get proper food if you join the frontlines, Ima states that using food as an incentive won't work on him and his sister as they've gone through worse times in the past, and Kako awkwardly tells him to not remind her. When Sirei mentions that everyone would just get freaky if they weren't given their own rooms, Kako excitedly asks if that's what happens when one starts high school, and Ima tells her to stop taking his words so seriously.
At the end of the first day, Ima is shown to be livid over him and Kako not sharing a room. Kako, on the other hand, states with a hesitant look that it's good for them to sometimes have space from each other, and that sleeping in different rooms for a while isn't going to hurt.
In a previewed scene on Twitter, while in the cafeteria, Kako is expressing her desire to join the frontlines, outright begging her brother to let her do it. Ima at first appears nonchalant, but quickly upon realizing Kako is being serious, his expression goes dark, and his tone becomes more serious. Kako becomes scared as he tells her that a bad girl like her deserves to be properly scolded and taught a lesson, and he attempts to drag her into her room, but is stopped by Takemaru. Ima proceeds to threaten Takemaru and says how "he's doing this in order to protect Kako".
2nd Scenario[]
On Day 21, Kako showed that she was strongly against Ima's overprotectiveness. She ranted to other girls about how she was stronger than him and didn't need him anymore, and lashed out when someone tried to defend him. The forlorn Ima went to Takumi to consult him about his troubles with Kako. He said that she'd been on a rebellious streak and only rarely looked at him, in a "Don't you have somewhere else to be?" way no less. Kako had never acted like this before and he didn't know how to deal with it. Seconds after Takumi offered to have a talk with her, though, he perked up and happily left it in his hands to "turn Kako back into the darling little sister I know and love, and who loves me!"
Ima tried to get Kako to side with him several times, but she ignored him. At the start of the battle that night, Kako told Ima to stay behind her if he got scared. Ima said they'd have "an unbeatable combo of sibling love" when Kako was best suited to take down Squad Six, and that he could easily protect his sister from any harm that came her way. Kako responded by telling him she didn't need his protection and that being called "Sister Dearest" was embarrassing. Kako tried to fight Eva on her own, but Ima kept following her, and eventually took a projectile to the abdomen, dying in her place. He was able to be revived and came back gladly proclaiming that he'd sacrifice his life to keep her safe, but Kako was visibly very shaken. When more mist came, Ima willingly left it to Kako to win the battle, then thanked her for the victory.
Chapter 9[]
After absorbing Eva's hemoanima, Kako told Ima that he wasn't qualified to worry about her anymore. She told him to worry about himself because he was the weak one. She had developed the kind of complex Ima had before, now believing that Ima was the one that needed to be kept safe. On Day 22, Kako decided that she was going to get even stronger and ran away off of school grounds. This caused Ima to run in a panic to get everyone to help find her.
Box of Calamity[]
The second time Kako went missing, Ima spiraled even further. He questioned everything and stumbled over his words trying to say what would happen if something bad had happened to her. He gathered everyone he could to search for her again immediately. Ima was furious when Takumi agreed with Sirei's decision to call off the search a few days later. He explained that Kako was the only family he had and that looking for her was what family was all about. Afterward, he shut himself in his room for over a week, only coming out at the mention of a translated book that said opening a Box of Calamity was what released a wraith. He took Nozomi hostage and threatened to kill her if the rest didn't find the Box of Calamity that they'd opened in ten days. His plan was to destroy the box and therefore the wraith as well so that Kako would come back.
Ima became severely depressed after the search for the box failed. He asked what the point of going on was without her and why he was still here if she wasn't. Later, he reiterated that despite their differences, Kako was all he had.

Kako continued to separate herself from Ima, explaining that she wanted to be more than just his sister. She told him to fight for his own sake, not for his dear sister. In Chapter 9Aaa, he followed up on this and promised to the best he could in battle so he could stand alone as his own person.

Tsukumo Twins is a fairly popular ship and is mainly shipped as a het ship, due to Ima's attitude towards Kako, and the fact that he is officially described as a siscon, but it is also controversial for the very same reasons. It is also memed on due to them being another pair of siblings with incestual subtones/themes in a game (mainly) written by Kodaka.
The ship currently has 50+ romantic works and 30+ gen works on AO3, and the romantic variation is the 5th most written ship under The Hundred Line tag.

- They have a height difference of 5 cm, with Ima being 158 cm, and Kako being 153 cm tall.
- Their Specialist Skills parallel each other, as Ima's is "Special Misconduct", while Kako's is "Special Good Conduct". Their Hemoanima forms also have angel and devil motifs.
- Ima's passive ability also makes his Attack stat raise +2 when Kako's HP is low.
