Twokane is the non-binary/het ship between Akane Owari and the Ultimate Imposter from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
Akane and the Ultimate Imposter are both members of Class 77-B at Hope's Peak Academy. During their school days, the Imposter impersonates both Byakuya Togami and Ryota Mitarai. Akane the Ultimate Imposter become Ultimate Despairs thanks to Junko Enoshima's brainwashing, and help cause the Tragedy. At some point they, along with their classmates, are captured by the Future Foundation. They are put into the Neo-World Program in an attempt to rehabilitate them, erasing their memories of their time at Hope's Peak and their time as Ultimate Despairs in the process.
In the Neo-World Program, the Imposter again presents themself as Byakuya Togami. They are both known to enjoy food, which is often played for laughs. When the Ultimate Imposter begins eating all the food at the first breakfast, to "check for poison", Akane shouts that there won't be any left for her. They both discuss their love for food at the party as well, before the Ultimate Imposter's untimely death. During the trial, Akane makes it clear that she doesn't know anything about the Imposter/Byakuya. She suggests that perhaps they were underneath the table to pull a prank, claiming that "Byakuya" has always been a "jokester".
When the real Byakuya arrives at the end of the School Killing Trip, Akane mistakes him for the Ultimate Imposter. She seems glad to see them again, but remarks that Byakuya has become "so skinny". She seems genuinely upset by this.
In the non-canonical Ultimate Talent Development Plan, Akane and the Ultimate Imposter attend an "all you can eat" restaurant together. The Imposter checks in with Akane, ensuring that she is wearing properly fitting clothing and hasn't been skipping meals to prepare for this moment. They continue to offer advice after Akane insists they eat meat first, reminding her that eating vegetables first will allow them to consume the most amount of food possible. At the School Festival, Akane runs into both the Ultimate Imposter and the real Byakuya Togami. It's clear that she cannot tell the difference between the two Byakuyas, as the moment the real Byakuya arrives she comments on his weight loss.
The pair do not share any interactions in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp.
Fanon[]
Twokane is considered to be a rarepair in the Danganronpa fandom. This is likely due to the fact that the Ultimate Imposter dies first, and thus does not get nearly as much development as other characters. Even in the Danganronpa 3 anime, the Imposter and Akane do not share very many scenes. Akane herself, while surviving to the end of the Killing Game, is not a fan favourite character, and most fans seem to think someone else should have survived in her place. As such, neither character is thought about often by the fandom.
In addition, the Ultimate Imposter and Akane both have much more popular ships with canon ship-bait moments; Mitworai and Twobuki for the Imposter, and Akanidai for Akane.
Fans of this ship like the fact that Akane and the Imposter have similar relationships to food. They also both have dark pasts, and fans think they could help heal each other. In addition, with the Ultimate Imposter (as Byakuya) being the serious type and Akane being a comic relief character, fans enjoy their dynamic.
