UnaRin is the femslash ship between Otomachi Una and Kagamine Rin from the Vocaloid fandom.
Canon[]
Una and Rin are both characters and voicebanks from the the voice synthesizer program VOCALOID. Therefore, neither of them have canon personalities, backstories, or relationships, which leaves their dynamic up to interpretation.
Songs[]
Una and Rin have a few songs together, most of which were produced by kinoshita.
Positive ☆ Dance Time
The song “Positive ☆ Dance Time” by kinoshita was published October 12, 2017. It is their first duet song and kinoshita's first song featuring Rin[1] and his most popular song in general at over 15 million views on YouTube,[2] 3,140,000+ on Niconico,[3] and 104,600+ on bilibili.[4] The song is also known as the “most positive Vocaloid song.”[1]
The beginning of music video features Una and Rin posing together before cutting to Una's part. Una sings about the night sky “preforming with the color of dreams,” revealing that the theme of the song is sleep-related topics such as dreaming. During Rin's part, she talks about the moon, further hinting at the theme being night/sleep-based. Una and Rin say the same line during their respective parts, “Shall we dance?”. The next part actively switches between Rin and Una singing, and they both sing in a similar pattern as both begin with the countdown, “1, 2, 3.”
Following the countdowns, Una sings for a short moment and then we see Una and Rin standing side-by-side, hands on their hips as they turn, the text “wake up! wake up!” written on the screen. Directly after, Una and Rin begin separately chanting “Fly! High! Fly! High!” before chanting in unison, “High! High! High! High!”. Una and Rin stand back-to-back with their hands up in a dancing motion for a couple seconds and pose together during the intermission.
Afterwards, Rin and Una sing comparable lyrics to the ones they sung previously, focusing on sleep-related topics like the night sky, clouds, and stars. They begin with singing the same lyrics from before, maintaining the countdown (1, 2, 3) at the start of them. Rin sings individually for a short moment, and they go back to being side-by-side. They chant “Fly! High! Fly! High!” again, but close off with “Yay!” instead. They stand back-to-back with their hands up, individually sing “Let's Dance!”, and then return to standing back-to-back while singing about sleep-based topics. Una yells “Are you reaadyy?” and it cuts to intermission, which features sketchily drawn illustrations of Una and Rin, and an illustration of Len joins a few seconds later.
Una and Rin return to being side-by-side but instead of turning in unison, Una walks closer to the camera, catching Rin off-guard. They yell “Fly! High! Fly! High!” one final time, pose together, then sing “Let's Dance!”. Una and Rin sing “Dancing☆Dancing☆Time” back-to-back, suddenly point upwards, and go back to singing for a handful of the song's ending. The focus switches to Una singing solely, before Rin joins her, and the MV closes off with them standing back-to-back again.

The song “Starry Sky☆Parade” by kinoshita was published April 9, 2019. It is kinoshita's fourth most popular Una/Rin song at around 1.6 million views on YouTube.[5] The song is one of kinoshita's most notable ones. There are two versions of the song, a Una and Rin version and a Len and Rin version.
During the song, Una and Rin are both wearing sleepwear. The music video starts off with Una and Rin posing together as the song's title appears on screen. It then fast forwards to Una's part, where she sings about journeying to a land of dreams, showing that the theme of this song is similar to their first duet song, “Positive ☆ Dance Time.” For Rin's part, she sings about “flying in the air through the rainbow” and “aiming for beyond the blue,” “blue” likely referring to the sky.
During the next section, Una and Rin are depicted sitting together on a cloud, each delivering two lines respectively. Rin's part comes first, where she sings about drifting above the clouds and the impression that the “moon here isn't sleepy yet.” During Una's segment, she sings about “finding the secret entrance” and after “jumping in all at once,” the showtime of the stars begins. While Una sings her first line, only the lyrics appear on screen, therefore, Una and Rin are not illustrated. However, during her second line, her and Rin are shown next to each other.
The text “Boys&Girls” appears on screen before switching to Una's part once again. She preforms “Welcome to DreamLand,” indicating that the theme closely aligns with that of “Positive ☆ Dance Time,” as both center around nighttime, sleep-related subjects, and dancing. Una vocalizes the song's title, “Here, a Starry Sky☆Parade.” As Una sings, Rin is shown dancing in the background. The illustration changes to show Una solely pointing to a pina colada before immediately switching to show her and Rin with satisfied expressions. The text, “One more time!” appears on screen and then Rin's part begins. This time, while Rin sings, Una is depicted dancing in the background. Rin sings, “Dancing Dancing☆Party” while exclaiming out of excitement. She also vocalizes the song's title, “It's the Starry Sky☆Parade.” Subsequently, it displays Rin dancing solely as she finishes up her part of the song, then transitions to depicted her and Una reunited. The last line of this segment is delivered by Una, “It's the stars' mysterious story.”
After a quick intermission, Rin's part starts up again. However, this time, it depicts Len floating in the background as she sings.

Fanon[]
Despite the amount of songs they collaborated on, UnaRin is primarily a rarepair when considered romantically. Romantically, UnaRin is largely overshadowed by more well-known pairings in the Vocaloid fandom such as RinLen and MikuRin for Rin, and FukaUna and UnaKiri for Una. Another ship, UnaMiku, which isn't too popular in the fandom, still enjoys greater popularity compared to UnaRin.
UnaRin, while not as popular as some of the other pairings in the fandom, still has a decently sized fanbase with 30 artworks categorized under their tag on Pixiv. On AO3, they currently only have 1 work, which is a headcanon and ship rating story, indicating that the pairing was requested by another person.
Platonically, UnaRin's popularity skyrocketed after their first duet song, “Positive ☆ Dance Time” was released back in 2017, but has decreased over time. Majority of the fandom who acknowledges the two views them as good friends due to how they're depicted in their songs; UnaRin is typically represented as a friendship. Despite their popularity platonically, they have no works under the tag “Rin & Una,” likely due to the friendship mostly gaining popularity in the Eastern side of the fandom, hence why they have more works on Pixiv, a Japanese site, then on AO3, which is mainly used by English speakers.
