Urokodaki Family is the family ship between Sakonji Urokodaki, Sabito and Makomo from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Urokodaki and Makomo[]
One day, Urokodaki eventually found Makomo who was an orphan at the time they met. Urokodaki adopted her and took her in to live with him.
He raised her and took her under his care and eventually, told her about the Demon Slayer Core. It was then when Urokodaki had explained to Makomo about the Demon Slayers and how they exist and fight to protect humans from the Demons who lurk at night.
Urokodaki begins to train Makomo so he can prepare her to become a Demon Slayer.
It is unknown if Urokodaki was strict when he trained Makomo. As he was awfully strict when he was training Tanjiro. But it is unknown if he applied these same methods to Makomo as well.
As Urokodaki trains Makomo, she eventually earns his permission to enter Final Selection so she could potentially become a Demon Slayer. Makomo eventually goes to the Final Selection and starts her trial at the exam.
During her 7 days at Mt Fujikasane. Makomo encounters a powerful morphed demon who she is forced to battle. This Demon was very strong, it had a multitude of hands that it could control and manipulate freely.
Later during their battle. The Hand Demon reveals that Urokodaki had several students before her and he had devoured all of them. He hoped that the old man felt responsible, as if he guided his students to their demise.
Makomo became angered by the Hand Demon taunting the death of her colleagues. But became overcome with emotion and lost control of her movement. She is then swiftly ripped apart by the Demon and devoured by its very hand.
After her death, Makomo couldn’t rest and her soul finds its way to Mount Sagiri and she has to join the ranks of those who have fallen to the same Demon as her.
After Urokodaki discovers her failure to return, he is left devastated knowing that another student he trained was killed yet again.
Makomo never blamed Urokodaki at all for what happened like the Hand Demon hoped she would. She still loved Urokodaki and her respect for him remained. She was very happy that she got to know an amazing person such as himself.
Sabito and Urokodaki[]
Most likely a year after Makomo’s death. Urokodaki eventually found not one but two students. Their names being Giyu Tomioka, and Sabito. Urokodaki takes the two in and trains them both.
During their training the two both grew a major respect for the elder as they were training under him.
Soon both of them earn his permission to attend the Final Selection. They leave off and attend the Final Selection.
Sabito was doing incredible during Final Selection. He killed several demons and saved many other participants that would’ve died to the hands of the demons they encountered. But just like the others… Fate manages to have another one of Urokodaki’s students encounter the most menacing of all the demons there, The Hand Demon.
The Hand Demon explained to Sabito how he vowed to kill all of Urokodaki’s students and claimed to have devoured all of them.
The battle between them begins and Sabito puts up a very good fight against the Demon but however even someone as incredible as himself couldn’t bring the demon down. After managing to get in close up Sabito attempts to decapitate the morphed beast but his blade breaks on the Demon’s neck. The Demon gains satisfaction from this and crushes the child’s head, killing him instantly.
Sabito is devoured by the beast after being defeated by the Demon. He was the only one that didn’t survive his Final Selection.
Sabito also couldn’t rest after failing to kill the Demon and his soul too found its way back to Mount Sagiri and he had to join the ranks of his fellow fallen colleagues. Urokodaki was also grieved to find out that Sabito couldn’t make it through Final Selection.
Sabito and Makomo[]
Sabito and Makomo never met when the two were still alive. The two were only able to meet after Sabito was killed.
After the two met they grew a close bond with each other during their time at Mount Sagiri. Once Urokodaki eventually took in a new student named Tanjiro. After training him for a year he gives him one final challenge. Cut a boulder in half using his swords.
Sabito eventually meets while he is training and criticizes him for only mesmerizing the information of Urokodaki’s training instead of trying to master Total Concentration Breathing. He challenges the boy who responds by saying that he could get hurt because his sword is made of wood.
Sabito laughs before approaching Tanjiro and tells him that he’s far superior to him because he already cut his boulder. Their battle begins and Sabito easily begins to overwhelm Tanjiro.
As the two fight near an end Sabito demands to see everything Tanjiro has to offer but he easily evades Tanjiro’s next attack and knocks him unconscious with a powerful sword swing.
Makomo appears at the end of the fight and Sabito entrusts her to do the rest of Tanjiro’s training. She smiles and nods.
Once it’s night. Makomo asks Tanjiro if he’s okay. He reawakens and asks her if she saw what happened and she appears baffled. Tanjiro explains how amazing Sabito was when they fought and he says he wants to be like him some day and asks her if it’s possible. She smiles and says it is because she’ll be there to look after him.
Makomo corrected unnecessary movements Tanjiro would make while fighting and corrected all of his bad habits. She never explained to him why she and Sabito were helping him. She would often tell him about how much the two respect Urokodaki by saying that she and him both love Urokodaki very much.
When Tanjiro asked her how he could master Total Concentration Breathing and she simply responded by saying train to death.
So Tanjiro trained even harder than before. He didn’t stop swinging his sword until it felt like his arms were going to fall off. But he was still unable to defeat Sabito. This repeated until six months passed.
Once the two battled, their fight ended in an instant, because Tanjiro finally managed to hit Sabito first. Sabito was shocked but happy. Makomo commended Tanjiro and told them to never forget what he has done today and to keep winning.
The two then disappear into the mist.
Urokodaki becomes amazed once Tanjiro cuts the boulder and allows him to enter Final Selection. Before Tanjiro leaves he tells Urokodaki to say hello to Sabito and Makomo and he walks off to Final Selection. Urokodaki becomes shocked and asks to himself how can Tanjiro see the dead. Makomo asks if Tanjiro can beat him. He responds by saying he doesn’t know because they were unable to despite trying their hardest.
While Tanjiro was at Final Selection he eventually encountered the same Demon that had killed all of Urokodaki’s other students.
After the Demon explains how he hopes Urokodaki feels responsible and gleefully explains how he killed Sabito and Makomo, Tanjiro becomes enraged and charges the Demon.
As the battle continues. Makomo worries if Tanjiro will too be defeated and wonders if it’s even possible to behead him since his neck is so thick. Sabito says he is unsure who will win but reminds her that Tanjiro is the one who cut through the thickest and toughest boulder of all.
The battle nears its end and Tanjiro manages to close the distance and get close enough to the demon. The Hand Demon who is confident that Tanjiro will fail in beheading him and he attempts to grab him but to his shock, Tanjiro does a Breathing Technique and manages to decapitate the Demon.
Now that Tanjiro has won. All of Urokodaki’s deceased students can finally rest. Makomo, Sabito and all of them disappear into the mist for good and ascend to the afterlife and they return to Urokodaki as souls.
Fanon[]
Urokodaki Family is well known by the fandom. Considering these two are Urokodaki's only known deceased students and also, they are the only two who were adopted by him. Many people like making fanart of the two with him. Some fans like making AUs where Sabito and Makomo live and visit Urokodaki after becoming Demon Slayers. Little to no people ship them romantically since Urokodaki is far older than the both of them and he raised the two of them.
