Breath of the Wild[]

Revali recalled that several years ago, the Sheikah scientists have excavated Divine Beast Vah Medoh which was used to fight Ganon during ancient times and the Royal Family is seeking a pilot who must be exceptionally skilled and have a sacred soul that will recognize them as their master. Revali, who had been dedicated all his life to training to be a skilled warrior sees this opportunity to prove himself to the world that he is worthy of facing Ganon head on.

Princess Zelda speaks with him and as Revali asks about their plan, he immediately regrets his question as he learned that the Divine Beasts are backup for a certain knight who possesses the Master Sword. Revali was about to reconsider before Zelda pleaded with him that so many lives are at stake and Hyrule needs him. Revali is annoyed by the corniness of it all, but he saw that she was being sincere. He plans to accept but decides to have her wait a while. Later, Zelda sees him again and sees him training at the Flight Range. After Revali accepts her proposition, he uses his gale and succeeds and managed to succeed and after putting up a show of blowing up targets with Bomb Arrows, Revali lets her know that he is already aware that he is helping Link, but adds if he loses his confidence, she should not go crying to him. To prove his worth of taming a Divine Beast, Revali goes through a series of trials that have him shooting the horn of the flame dragon Dinraal, racing down the snowy peaks while going through the Glowing Rings, and to shoot all four targets in quick succession and is able to pass all the trials. According to Zelda's Research Notes, Revali has managed just fine with controlling Vah Medoh alongside Urbosa. Revali's interaction with Link does not take place on Vah Medoh, but at the landing where Revali taunts Link that they should settle their rivalry one on one on Vah Medoh, but it was in the sky which Revali adds that he won't get up there on his own without wings. According to Revali's journal, after trying to get a reaction from Link to no avail, he states that he flew up to Vah Medoh to find solace there and wondered what was wrong with Link.

When Calamity Ganon returned, Revali and the Champions head to their Divine Beasts to strike back. However, Vah Medoh ended up being the very place where Revali lost his life when Windblight Ganon took control and killed him. Revali has perpetually haunted the interiors for a whole century before Link returned to reclaim his Divine Beast. Revali instructs Link to head to the Guidance Stone where it can distil a map for him to help him find the terminals that will turn on the Main Control Unit while telling him to keep going each time a terminal is activated. Before Link can activate the Main Control Unit, he is forced to deal with Windblight Ganon, whom he fought and destroys. He is able to activate the Main Control Unit without any further interruptions and Revali appears to Link to thank him for returning control back to him and as Link is warped out, Revali tells her that Zelda has been waiting for a long time. He then takes Vah Medoh and perches it at the top of the rock spire above Rito Village to take aim at Hyrule Castle where Calamity Ganon is. Revali is certain that they have an excellent angle with the precision being just right and when the time came, he tells it to give it everything it got, and they have been patient for a century and will have to wait a little longer before their duties are fulfilled and takes a moment to acknowledge that Link is indeed worthy for succeeding where he could not. Once Calamity Ganon breaks free, Revali and the Champions open fire to weaken it.

Age of Calamity[]

Revali is chosen to pilot Vah Medoh, but due to constant attacks from Harbinger Ganon, a Guardian that looks like Terrako, he has been on high alert and unknowingly attacked their own allies by mistake until Princess Zelda cleared up the misunderstanding and allowing Revali to explain what happened. Revali quickly accepts his call to become the Rito Champion who pilots Divine Beast Vah Medoh, but he is doubtful if Link has what it takes. As the Champions reach the outskirts of Korok Forest, Revali was honored for receiving an important task, but is frustrated that Link was given the leadership and argues with Daruk before insulting Link until Urbosa stops him. Revali summons Vah Medoh to eliminate the giant monsters and outposts that besiege the forest before flying down to let everyone know that it was okay for them to proceed.

When Calamity Ganon returned, Revali was under attack by Windblight Ganon, who managed to strike his wing to render him vulnerable and came close to killing him before Terrako's Gate of Time brings Teba back in time to save him before Windblight lands the fatal shot and they were able to hold it off until Link and his friends arrived and managed to only drive it off. Revali and the rest of the Champions were grateful for the save, even though mainly being begrudging towards Link. Revali and Teba team up to defend Western Hyrule from the corrupted Guardians and monsters, and Windblight Ganon would return and try to kill them, though Revali now knows of Windblight's intentions and working with Teba, he destroys the evil demon with Vah Medoh. Revali would later assist Urbosa and Riju with the other Champions at Fort Hateno and after being brought to Hyrule Field with the rest of the military, Revali and the Champions open fire with their Divine Beasts to drain Ganon of its power.

Fanon[]

Vah Medli is a rareship in terms of fanfics, though fan art of Revali and Vah Medoh have been very common among the fanbase. As Revali is the primary pilot of Vah Medoh that utilizes wind abilities, fans can hardly imagine him being a pilot of any other Divine Beast. It was noted that when Revali remembered the day that Vah Medoh was excavated and spoke about a skilled warrior being worthy of using it, he was long suffering from an inferiority complex and saw it as an opportunity to prove himself to the world though he was flustered to learn that the Divine Beasts were only backup for the chosen knight. Fans also notice that Revali's journal has him trying and failing to have a meaningful conversation with Link and the use of the word "solace" was of interest as it means to find comfort in sorrow, sadness, alleviation of distress or of discomfort to further support the fact that Revali was insecure and desperate for approval for others. During his monologue after Vah Medoh is liberated has him speak to his Divine Beast about their duties and after waiting for a long time, fans found it cute and humorous that he briefly then actually baby talks to it when he says that it'll "have to suffer another feather a few more moments".
