Vah Rupha is the cargo ship between Mipha and Divine Beast Vah Ruta from The Legend of Zelda fandom.
Canon[]
Breath of the Wild[]
Mipha recounted the day written in her diary that Divine Beast Vah Ruta was excavated by the Sheikah scientists and the first time she saw it. She notes how cute it was with its round body and its long trunk and from what she learned from the Sheikah, the Divine Beasts require someone worthy of controlling and she imagines someone being in control and wonders who will have the honor of being its pilot next, not knowing that the summoning will fall on her.
Many years later, Princess Zelda visits Mipha and asks if she would be Vah Ruta's pilot which she agreed to, which she realized that if Calamity Ganon isn't stopped, it would affect not just her people, but all of Hyrule and by extension the entire world. She wanted to do this in order to help Link as well and asks of the other Champions and Zelda goes through all of them while unwilling to give Link's name while Mipha already know who is referring to. When she calls her infant brother Sidon up, Zelda states that he might be a bit too young for waterfall climbing, but Mipha insists that she may one day leave him so she can face her fate with Ruta before diving down to reach Sidon. To show that she is worthy of taming a Divine Beast, Mipha would then go through a series of trials which includes her swimming to the Glowing Ring at Lanayru Sea, fighting Guardians at Upland Zorana, and swimming upward through Glowing Rings between Mikau Lake and Lulu Lake and is able to pass the trials. As Zelda later notes, Mipha had the easiest time gaining control over Vah Ruta and the princess notes how surprised she was that she was able to do exceptionally well despite her frail appearance. Mipha would later invite Link to Vah Ruta at sunset when she learns that Princess Zelda would not be joining him this time. They both sit at the top of Vah Ruta's trunk as she heals one of Link's wounds and has a chat with him about how his kind age much faster than hers and promises that she will heal his wounds no matter how grave they are and hopes to spend more time with him once the Calamity is dealt with.
When Calamity Ganon returns, Mipha and the Champions head to their Divine Beasts to strike back. However, Vah Ruta ended up being the very place where Mipha lost her life when Waterblight Ganon took control of Vah Ruta and killed her. Mipha would persistently haunt the interiors for a whole century, even sinking into despair at one point the day before Link returned to reclaim it. She would then be overjoyed to see him again and instructs him to reach the Guidance Stone where he can receive a map and when he does, she instructs him to find the rest of the terminals to turn on the Main Control Unit and cheers him on each time a terminal is activated. When Link tries to activate the Main Control Unit, he is forced to fight Waterblight Ganon, whom he managed to destroy. Link is able to activate the Main Control Unit without any further interruptions and Mipha appears to Link to thank him for reclaiming Vah Ruta for her and she wishes him well and tells him to save Princess Zelda as well. Mipha moves Vah Ruta from East Reservoir Lake and settles in a lake close to Zodobon Highlands to take aim at Calamity Ganon in Hyrule Castle. Mipha is pleased that they have found a way to be useful to Link and the Champions and their duty is to deprive Ganon of his power which is not just their last chance but their final hope for Hyrule and sealing Ganon will allow both her and Vah Ruta's duties to be fulfilled while hoping that her family is well. Once Calamity Ganon breaks free, Mipha and the Champions open fire at Ganon to weaken it. During the epilogue, Zelda will notice that Vah Ruta has stop working without any explanation and plans on heading there with Link to investigate what was wrong with it.
Age of Calamity[]
Mipha is being recruited by Princess Zelda to become Vah Ruta's pilot though her father is reluctant about her going through with it due to not wanting to put her in danger. While Zora's Domain is under attack and Sidon was missing and is eventually saved by his sister from a Lynel, Link, Mipha, and Zelda witness more monsters entering Zora's Domain, though Terrako reveals Vah Ruta through the Sheikah Slate leading to Mipha taking control of it to save her father from being electrocuted by a Moblin and wiped out the monsters around the vicinity. King Dorephan then allows Mipha to become the Zora Champion, but on the condition that she returns home safely.
When Calamity Ganon returns, Mipha is under attack by Waterblight Ganon, who froze the water around her to put her at a disadvantage and came close to killing her before Terrako's Gate of Time brings the adult Sidon back to her time and saves her from certain death and was able to hold the beast off until Link and his friends arrived to slay it. Mipha is too exhausted to continue and had to be left behind while Sidon goes on ahead to help the group. Mipha uses Vah Ruta's waterpower to harden the lava flow to clear the path to help them save Daruk and Yunobo as well. After that, Mipha and Sidon head to Akkala Citadel to back up the soldiers stationed there and Mipha used it to save Link from a corrupted Guardian. Mipha leaves Vah Ruta while Sidon is given control over it to back them up for a while before it ran out of power, until Daruk arrived to save the day and the bridge was destroyed to deter enemy entry. She also assists Urbosa and Riju at Fort Hateno and she and Vah Ruta are summoned to Hyrule Field where she used it one last time to damage Calamity Ganon.
Fanon[]
Vah Rupha is an extremely rareship in terms of fanfics, though fan art of Mipha and Vah Ruta have been very common among the fanbase. As Mipha is the primary pilot of Vah Ruta that utilizes water abilities, fans can hardly imagine her being a pilot of any other Divine Beast. Given that the Zora legend has an ancient Zora princess, Ruto, who became a Sage of Water to help the Hero of Time defeat Ganondorf, it is not difficult for anyone in the Zelda community that it would be her whom Vah Ruta is named after. King Dorephan even drew a connection that due to Ruto and Mipha's statuses as princess it had been fate that Mipha would end up being chosen to become the Champion of the Divine Beast named after the heroic princess of the ancient past.
