Valgrace is the slash ship between Leo Valdez and Jason Grace from the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles fandom.

Heroes of Olympus

The Lost Hero

Leo first meets Jason on the Wilderness School Bus. Due to Hera, Leo has fake memories of him and Jason. This is really just a trick of the Mist. When his two best friends, Piper and Jason, started dating in his fake memories, Leo felt unneeded, even if he was happy for them, he felt like a third wheel. When Jason actually meets Leo, he tells Leo he thinks he's weird.

Leo volunteered to go on Jason's quest, saying he can get him a ride. Since their journey started together, it was only right for him to come with them. Jason was both amazed and shocked when he learned that Leo had fixed Festus, a dragon no one else had fixed.

The two grew closer on the quest. Noticeably, after Leo saved Jason from the cyclopes, and when Leo trusted Jason enough to tell him about Tía Callida. Leo was also happy when Jason was willing to fight Calais and Zethes to save him. In Chicago, Leo confided in Jason more, telling him about his fire powers and even his mother's death. Jason was amazed by Leo's powers and cooking, and when Leo said he was worried about telling him because he didn't want to seem like a freak, Jason reassured him that he was just as a freak as he was. Jason also reassured Leo what happened to his mom wasn't his fault.

But on the quest, Jason and Leo developed a small rivalry. After a fight, Festus the Dragon broke down and Jason tried to apologize to Leo, making sure he knew what happened wasn't his fault, and tried to reassured him that he was amazing. In Omaha, Jason said he wished he could do half of the things Leo could do. He told Leo that he did take things seriously and that he wasn't annoying. Leo accepted this apology, Leo told Jason not insult his ability to annoy and said he's supposed to resent Jason for being "Prince of the sky" while he's just a "lowly mechanic", but he couldn't if he apologizes.

Jason and Leo grew closer over time, and Jason even wanted Leo there with him when he talked to his sister, Thalia Grace. Leo was very surprised and said that sticking around was his specialty. Leo subconsciously started tapping "love you" in Morse code on his knee. Later, heading to Aeolus's palace, Leo comforted Jason as they walked. Jason confided in him, wondering if what happened with his mom was his own fault. Leo comforted him, saying that it takes awhile to get used to demigod stuff and that what happened, this time being the one to assure Jason that what happened with his mother wasn't his doing. When Piper was worried that Jason would betray them the next day, Leo knew that he wouldn't. Jason was amazed when Leo showed him Bunker 9 back at Camp Jupiter.

The Demigod Diaries

By now, the two were best friends. Jason calmed Leo down after a big mistake with Buford the Table, and went to Bunker 9, ready to help him. Leo thought of Jason as cool, confident, and "surfer dude handsome". Jason was determined to help his friend. After they saved the Camp, Jason sat with Leo at the campfire and together they drank hot chocolate. Leo thanked Jason for saving him, and Jason reassured Leo that he would do anything for him. They toasted to each other. During the following months at camp, Jason and Leo would play the Wii together, with a program Leo created called "idiot mode".

The Mark of Athena

Leo considered Jason his best friend and didn't know what to do with himself if Jason didn't survive his injuries from the Romans. And when his friends came to check on him, he asked about his best friend, needing to know Jason was okay. Leo felt guilty for what happened and blamed himself. Leo also felt like a third wheel to Jason and Piper's relationship.

Leo was ecstatic after he returned from Salt Lake City to find his best friend awake, telling him he was glad he was better. Jason reassured Leo that his injury was not his fault. Leo and Jason were mutually wary about Nico di Angelo, and Jason defended Leo when Hazel almost yelled at him. Leo and Jason teamed up multiple times on the way to Rome.

Jason was extremely worried when Leo went missing, he flew around the Atlantic Ocean like a madman searching for his best friend.

At the end of Mark of Athena, Jason called Leo "the admiral".

House of Hades

Leo could see how stressed out his friend was after taking on the role of the sole leader of the Argo II. He could see Jason's uncharacteristically messy hair and sunken eyes. Leo felt bad for his friend, knowing Jason was used to being under stress after being Praetor at Camp Jupiter. Leo trusted him to be a leader, and knew he had a talent for being levelheaded in a crisis, and getting him out of bad situations. As for Jason, he was close enough to put Leo in his place whenever he went too far. Jason was very confident in Leo's abilities as well, and was sure that he could defeat Clytius with his fire powers. He also knew that Leo could always be light things up when the Seven were down. Leo and Jason defeated Akmon and Passalos together, and Jason flew Leo around Bologna in order to catch them.

When Khione blew Leo off the Argo II, Jason was absolutely devastated from losing him, and was guilty that he was basically helpless while Leo was blown off the ship. For five whole days, Jason confronted Auster and Notus to try to convince them to help him find his best friend. Jason was extremely worried about his friend and thought Leo could be in trouble and lost. On the fifth day, when he met with Auster, he asked him yet again to give him news about Leo, and begged him to let them leave and tell him where Leo is.

In this conversation. Jason finally realized that his months with Leo at Camp Half-Blood were more fulfilling than his life at Camp Jupiter, and that he wanted to stay with Leo. Jason was absolutely overjoyed when he reunited with his best friend at Malta, but could tell that Leo was heartsick, just like Nico di Angelo over Percy Jackson. He could feel that Leo no longer had his nervous energy and it was now replaced by a wistful sadness. Jason squeezed Leo's shoulder and asked him about what happened, but Leo refused to speak about it. Jason knew that something happened between him and a girl, but knew his friend didn’t want to talk about it, and changed the subject.

Blood of Olympus

Leo was extremely worried about Jason when he was injured at Ithaca. Leo could hear the pain in Jason's voice and wanted him to rest, worried for his friend's life. He felt helpless about Jason's state, knowing that people are harder to fix than his metal automations. Leo sat next to him at breakfast one day, knowing Jason was the least likely to hit him for a bad joke. Jason wanted to prove himself to the Seven and was even a bit embarrassed that Leo was so protective of him. Leo and Jason went to Epidaurus to meet Asclepius, where Leo hid his suicidal plan from Jason, one of the reasons Leo did what he did was to save Jason, knowing it was one of them that would have die, and he didn't want it to be his best friend.

When they made it back to Camp Half-Blood, Leo stayed on the ship and asked Jason to go. He felt horrible about leaving his best friend behind, but he knew that just like when he met Zeus, there was no time for a real goodbye. Jason almost cried to Nico telling him where Leo was. Jason thought to himself that Leo would be okay, but even so, he charged into the battle "for Leo". Leo ended up seeing Jason for one last time when he flew down with a repaired Festus, and Jason and Leo helped defeat Gaea together. When the goddess passed out, Leo urged Jason to go again, and Jason refused, saying Piper had the cure and that they needed to stay with him. Leo told Jason he loved him as he dropped them to the ground, which were the last words Leo would ever say to Jason.

After Leo's death, Jason was initially furious at his friends for keeping Leo's suicidal plan from him, but he knew that it was a plan Leo would've done anyways. Even though Nico told him that Leo was dead, Jason chose to believe that his best friend was still alive and told Piper so. The two then spent the night talking about the memories of Leo.

In September, after Jason received a parchment scroll from Leo, he spent the entire month looking for him, As for Leo, in both The Hidden Oracle and The Dark Prophecy, he told the god Apollo that he wanted to see Jason again.

The Burning Maze

When Jason actually found out that Leo was alive, he got so emotional all of the outlets in his dorm room sparked. He said he didn't know whether to laugh or yell, since he'd been through grieving for Leo for so long.

But, Jason never got to see his best friend again, because he was killed that same day by Caligula.

When Leo arrived in California, he immediately asked where Jason was, the two had missed each other by a couple of days, and his face crumbled when he realized what had happened. Leo was teary eyed and looked like he had been struck repeatedly as Piper hugged him, sobbing, telling him what happened to his best friend. Leo looked at Jason's diorama after brushing the tears from his face, disappointed he never got to say goodbye. He sadly said that Jason did what he always did, saving the day. He then told Apollo to take Jason home and do right by him.

Valgrace has a decently big amount of shippers, content for them easily being found on Twitter, TikTok, Tumblr, Ao3, etc. Valgrace is rivaled by Jasper and Caleo.
