Vaneric is the het ship between Eric and Ursula from The Little Mermaid fandom.

Canon

The moment Ursula learns about Prince Eric, from when her eels were spying on Ariel, she forms a plan to use the little mermaid's love for the human prince to her advantage. Making Eric a pawn in Ursula's scheme to become the ruler of the ocean. Although she thought that Eric wouldn't be able to give Ariel a true love's kiss, in the deadline she gave Ariel when she turned her into a human, she has Flotsam and Jetsam keep a close eye on them. Ursula was frustrated that Eric nearly kissed Ariel, if her babies hadn't knocked over their boat when they did. Noticing that Eric is falling for Ariel and would ruin her plan rather than play right into it, she decides to step in.

She creates the human persona known as Vanessa, a human woman who looks similar to Ariel and uses the mermaid's stolen voice. With Eric looking for the woman who saved him and plans to marry her, it made it easy for Vanessa to catch Eric's attention and for no one to find it suspicious when he wanted to marry her as soon as possible. To ensure that Eric won't choose Ariel over Vanessa, she uses Ariel's voice to place him under her control, while she was singing on the beach. Although Vanessa has no feelings towards Eric, she was willing to go through with the wedding, while seeing it as a stepping stone to ensure her victory. That's why she got Eric to ensure that their wedding happens before sunset that day. When it looked like everything was falling into place and about to say "I do", Ariel's friends kept that from happening and got Eric to brake free from her control when the magic shell around her neck massed. Despite this, Ursula felt that she would still be able to claim victory when the sun sets seconds before Eric could kiss Ariel. After Vanessa transforms into her true form and grabs the little mermaid, the Sea Witch calls Eric "Lover Boy" before diving back into the sea. No longer having any use for him.

Although Ursula was done with Eric, the human prince refused to let the Sea Witch win. Eric was able to find Ursula from the glowing light shining on the water's surface from under the sea, from when Ursula was getting King Trident to trade his soul to save Ariel. Despite being out of his element, Eric dives in the sea and spies Ursula about to harm Ariel, he throws the harpoon he brought along to attack the sea witch. Scratching her arm and drawing Ursula's attention towards him. Seeing that Eric won't go away quietly, from the determent look in his eyes, Ursula sick's her eels on him. When Ariel's friends forced Flotsam and Jetsam to lose their grip on him, Ursula decides to finish him off herself by blasting Eric with the trident, but Ariel pushes the sea witch and gets her to accidentally kill her Poopsies. Enraged by this Ursula enlarges herself as she towers both Eric and Ariel, but made the mistake to only focus on the little mermaid. Allowing Eric to climb onto one of the sunken ships, Ursula's whirlpool risen from the ocean floor, and stirs the ship into her direction. By the time Ursula realised this, it was too late from preventing the ship from piercing into her gut and killing her. Ursula's testicles might have been seen wrapping around the ship as she dies, but Eric had got himself off the ship on time and make it back to land. With Ursula gone Eric is able to marry the woman she loves without anyone to keep them a part.

Kingdom Hearts II

• Like in the original film, Ursula call Eric "Quite a catch". She says this when she makes it look that she is able to leave Ariel be.
• When Eric and Vanessa were walking on the beach, she uses Ariel's voice to sing to him, while he was under her spell.
• Like in the original film, Eric broke free from her control when her shell was destroyed. In the game, Sora destroys the shell when Vanessa was in the middle of singing to Eric while holding his hand.
• After Ursula dropped the magic trident, that lands in Eric's boat, she tells him that it is hers. This gets Eric to throw the Trident at her, killing the sea witch as it pierces through her body. Instead of ramming a sunken ship into her gut.

Fanon

The ship mostly has Ursula as her Vanessa self, to reference the scenes and persona she had Eric under her control as. Despite the fact that Eric was a puppet in a larger game Ursula was playing for the sake of claiming King Trident's crown and magic trident.

From time to time, fans of the ship have featured them role swap and what if AUs. As they picture Vanessa taking Ariel's place, from when they have the two swap roles with one another. Along with pondering what might have happened, or what it would have been like, if Vanessa did marry Eric.

Trivia

• Vanessa using Ariel's stolen voice to hypnotic Eric is a reference to how sirens use their song to make their sailor pray come to them.
• In the Broadway version of the Disney film, Ariel defeats Ursula in Eric's place.
