Weilin is the slash ship between Bolin and Wei from The Legend of Korra fandom.
Canon[]
Bolin first met Wei when the former was visiting Zaofu for the first time. Team Avatar was visiting in search for new airbenders after Harmonic Convergence and were arriving to recruit Wei's older sister Opal. Wei's mother Suyin Beifong first introduced Bolin and the group to Wei along with his twin brother Wing while they were playing power disc, a metalbending game that they invented. Bolin and the group later joined Wei and his family for dinner.
Bolin wanted to learn metalbending and tried to do so but was struggling. Suyin later had him spar with Wei while Wing sparred with Korra. Wing was excited to spar with the avatar while Wei lamented that he was 'stuck with her friend'. Unlike Korra, Bolin was still unable to metalbend, and defeated Wei by striking him with a regular pebble. Wei responded that this was a metal duel and that they were supposed to utilize metalbending. They were interrupted when Asami arrived and told them to get cleaned up for Opal's farewell dinner.
The Red Lotus later infiltrated Zaofu at night in an attempt to kidnap Avatar Korra. Bolin was the first to alert that there was kidnapped and Wei along with his brother and mother surrounded them in an attempt to rescue Korra. Ghazan surrounded them in a mote of lava so they planned to enter from the top of the dome but they had a combustionbender which made this plan dangerous. Bolin was then tasked with striking P'Li in the forehead with a pebble so that Wei and the others could swoop down from above to save Korra. Bolin missed on his first attempt but Wei's aunt Lin misheard them and gave the signal to go ahead. Bolin was then forced to land the next strike and did so successfully so that Wei and the others could safely descend.
Years later, Kuvira and the Earth Empire seized control of Zaofu. Wei and his family were imprisoned for refusing to bow to Kuvira. Bolin later joined Opal and Lin on a rescue mission to break Wei and the others out of their prison. The prisoners were suspended over a chasm in a wooden cage, so Lin was forced to break open the cage and throw them to the other side while the others caught them. Bolin caught Wei who then smiled and patted him on the cheek as a thanks. Bolin and Wei later made their way back to Republic City along with the others and participated in the final battle against Kuvira's colossus.
Fanon[]
Weilin has a small amount of popularity in the fandom. The ship primarily took off after the episode "Operation Beifong" aired due to Wei patting Bolin on the face. Many fans found that to be a sign of romantic attraction and even fans who do not ship Weilin still saw that as an obvious sign that Wei was attracted to Bolin. On AO3, there are currently 59 works involving the pairing. Weilin most commonly rivals Bopal and other pairings involving Bolin.
