Canon[]
Dr. Strange[]
Wong, the librarian in the Kamar-Taj, became introduced to Strange who had just begun his training there. When Strange learned of Wong's single name, he began comparing his name to Adele, Aristotle, Drake, Bono, and even Eminem. However, Wong seemed to be unbothered or even displeased by Strange's joke. Due to Strange's fast learning skills, he decided to bring Strange to the sections that were meant for Masters only. Wong then told Strange about the books and the story about Kaecilius. He also remarked that he would not hesitate to kill anyone who tried to steal the books. Strange proceeded to make other jokes, but Wong ignored them completely. Strange sarcastically stated that the talk between them had been 'lovely' and thanked Wong for 'the horrifying story' and ' the threat upon his life'.
One day, Strange asked to borrow the books on astral projection. However Wong regarded him not ready enough for that. Strange called Wong 'Beyoncé' as a joke, yet again to Wong's nonchalance, while still insisting to borrow the book. Due to this conversation, Wong began listening to Beyoncé's song while reading the books. During his read, Strange managed to steal some of the books using his Sling Ring, and also the book that he was reading at the time. Wong later reported this behaviour to The Ancient One.
Wong, along with Mordo, found Strange practicing a spell from the Book of Cagliostro, and they scolded him, calling him breaking the space-time continuum when they were supposed to defend it instead. He was also present during the battle at the Hong Kong Sanctum and lost his life. However, Strange used the Eye of Agamotto to bring him back. Strange expressed his awareness that he was breaking the laws of nature, but Wong did not disapprove, instead told him not to stop. After Strange transformed the surviving Zealots into the Mindless Ones, he stated that it was the eternal life they wanted, also adding that the warnings come after the spells, which they should have read, if only they had stolen the whole book. Finding Strange's remark funny, Wong suddenly burst into laughter, and this sight came as a surprise to Strange. Although Mordo left following the Zealots' defeat, Wong continued to assist Strange and inform him about the matters of the universe.
Avengers: Infinity War[]
On the New York Sanctum, Strange and Wong was having a conversation. Strange asked about how Wong did not have any money, which Wong replied that 'attachment to the material is detachment from the spiritual'. Strange mockingly said that he would tell Wong's reply to the people at the deli to get him 'a metaphysical ham on rye'. Wong then remembered that he had twenty rupees, which is a buck and a half, also adding that he wanted a tuna melt. Their plan was interrupted as Bruce crashed through the stairs. They then explained about the six Infinity Stones to Bruce and Tony. In the middle of the conversation, Wong revealed that he and Strange shared a favourite flavour of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, which is "A Hunka-Hulka Burnin' Fudge". The two later became involved in the battle against Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian. When Strange was captured, Wong returned to the New York Sanctum which had been left unguarded to protect it. Eventually, Thanos successfully did the Snap, with Strange being one of the victims.
Avengers: Endgame[]
After the Blip, Strange was brought back to life and the two got involved in the Battle of Earth against Thanos, opening portals to bring the superheroes to the battle. When Strange asked if they had brought everyone, Wong irritatedly asked him if he wanted more. They were also seen during the funeral of Tony Stark.
Fanon[]
Following the release of Dr. Strange, fans find the relationship between Strange and Wong amusing. The fact that they are often shown throwing sarcastic remarks at each other is what interests fans the most. One of fan favorite moments between the two was when Wong listened to Single Ladies by Beyoncé. This moment implied that although he seemed to appear uncaring toward Strange, he actually cared a lot about Strange's words to him. They also share a favourite flavour of Ben & Jerry's, which was a sign that they have a pretty close friendship.
