Woodleaf is the het ship between Woody and Leafy from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
Battle for Dream Island[]
After Woody falls from a distance, Leafy picks her up from the ground and tells him to enjoy the life around him. Later after the first challenge, Leafy becomes a team captain and has to choose between Woody and Rocky. She chooses Rocky while apologizing to Woody.
During the baking challenge, Leafy notices that Woody hasn't made a cake yet and offers to make one for him for free. This angers Pen and Eraser, who had to pay Leafy in order for her to make their cakes. Match enters the scene to pay for her alliance's cakes and also gives money to her on Woody's behalf as well. Leafy excitedly states that everything now all works out between them.
During the rejoin challenge, Leafy defends Woody when the Announcer laughs at him for drowning in the bread basket.
In the finale when the eliminated contestants voice their opinions on who they think should win, Woody chooses Leafy to win. He also slaps Needle and Match when they vote the other finalists.
Battle for BFDI[]
When Golf Ball spots Leafy, she can be seen chatting with Woody. During team forming for the season, Leafy invites Woody over and offers him some assistance. While naming the team, Leafy disagrees with Balloony's interpretation of what Woody's saying and asks him herself. Woody whispers to Leafy and she thinks his suggestion for the team name is catchy. The rest of the team adds to the team name, which ends up being named BEEP, before suggesting it to Four. Afterwards, Woody yells in excitement when Leafy asks him if he's ready to start competing.
For the second challenge, Leafy keeps track of her team members using a loyalty chart. Woody is ranked 6, the third most of the team behind Rocky and Nickel. When the team realizes that Roboty has gone missing, Woody and Leafy call out for him. Later while Woody is screaming from trying to lick a jawbreaker, Leafy grabs his tongue to get him to lick it only for it to shoot back into his mouth. Leafy calls for Nickel to help her with trying to get Woody's mouth open. Roboty getting crushed by a jawbreaker causes Woody to start screaming again, prompting Leafy to grab his tongue again as she thanks Nickel and asks him to get his mouth open that wide every time. After letting go, Nickel and Leafy try to get Woody to open his mouth again. After the challenge ends, Woody becomes concerned when Leafy overinflates Balloony and causes him to pop.
After Leafy rejoins the season, she is saddened when Woody and the rest of team BEEP back away from her. She tells Four this who instead places her on The Losers!
Battle for BFB[]
Both Leafy and Woody remain with Four for the season and make up the final 14 of BFB. However, they are placed on different teams.
For the shopping challenge, Leafy and Woody take on the role as gift receivers for their respective teams. While waiting for the shoppers, Leafy tries to make small talk with the other receivers. Woody acknowledges her but doesn't respond at first. Shortly after, Leafy asks Woody about the time she told her to enjoy the life out there. She adds on that she's learned that sometimes she's not in the right mindset to enjoy the things she used to but accepts this as natural. She encourages him that it will get better eventually, which Woody agrees with.
In the court case challenge when Four translates Woody's testimony, Leafy is referred to by Woody as "the one who stole everything". In his point of view, Woody explains his nervousness about getting stolen by Leafy but tries playing it cool by standing still in front of her. However, when Leafy brings out Flower, Woody mistakes Flower for a couple of snakes and grows further scared, running away despite his wish to protect Donut's diary from Leafy.
Having recently taken up pranks, Woody's next one involves unscrewing the wheel from the stand of Firey and Leafy's Ferris wheel while the two are riding it. He does exactly this as Leafy screams at him for what he's done as the two roll away on the wheel.
After Leafy and Firey end up getting crushed from Woody's prank, Woody begins to feel guilty after Lollipop shares some harmless prank ideas with him. Lollipop realizes that Leafy died right before Woody gulped and grows suspicious of him, only making Woody more tense. During the next challenge, Purple Face invites the six remaining contestants to a tour of the Archaic Temple. Leafy and Woody end up being the only ones remaining in his tour after the other four leave early. After being reassured to continue the tour, Purple Face shows the two a brown room with growing vines inside. When Purple Face ends the tour, he grows mad at the two when Leafy points out he's only shown them 1% of the temple. He angrily gives them the totems for the challenge and kicks them out. Although Four is excited to see Leafy and Woody at first, he realizes that the totems Purple Face gave them are cursed and puts them up for elimination. This ends up getting Woody eliminated in the next episode.
In the finale, Leafy and Woody are part of the group running after Purple Face to get Flower's BFDI prize back from him. However, the two, along with the others, begin to fight over who truly deserves the prize. Leafy explains that she wants to have it for Firey's sake, while Woody takes it from her and says that no one will have it if they keep fighting.
Fanon[]
Woodleaf is fairly common for the two characters. The ship has its origins from the first season, where Leafy was kind and supportive towards Woody whenever she was around him. Because Leafy was one of the few contestants to understand Woody at the time, basis for a close bond between the two grew on some fans, especially within shippers of the two. While some were unsure because of their shaky start at the fourth season, BFB post-split further developed their bond. Later scenes such as Leafy's advice towards Woody about change in mood being natural further grew the understanding between them. Throughout the show's course, ship art and interpretations of their dynamic roamed in the ship community with many still having this in sight. Both characters, though, have ships that often overlook the pairing such as Blockwood, Fireafy, and Leafpin.
On AO3, the ship has four works under its platonic tag and one under the romantic tag. It is the third most written ship for Woody on the site.
