Season 7[]
EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
Riker, Worf and Troi meet with Picard, Riker telling them that if he just had a few more seconds he could have saved Daniel's life. Worf says that Riker did everything he could and that it wasn't his fault. Picard asks how Daniel seemed before, and Riker says that he seemed fine. Troi says that when she met with him during the crew evaluations he had seemed very positive. Riker can't believe that Daniel would end his life, and Picard wishes there was a way he might be able to give his parents some kind of explanation. Worf suggests that Daniel might have left a last message, and Troi suggests looking through his personal logs. Picard gives them permission to figure out what happened and the two leave.
Troi gets taken to the medbay, where Riker and Worf are with her. She says that while in the nacelle control room, she was suddenly flooded by a range of emotions but with no source. Riker and Worf look concerned and Riker asks whose emotions she was feelings. He thought she was alone, and she insists that she was. Worf says that he scanned the area and found no anomalous readings, and Riker asks how she would get an empathic impression from and empty room. Troi isn't sure, but Crusher suggests that Daniel's partial empathic abilities might have an effect. Riker asks if Daniel could have left an empathic echo, but Troi doesn't think that'd be possible. She says she should go back and try and get a better idea of what it was, but Crusher advises against it given her levels of psilosynine. Worf asks what that is, and Crusher says it's involved in telepathy. Riker asks how long till her levels are down and Crusher says 3-4 hours. Riker says that this time he wants someone with her, and Worf says that he will.
Surrender[]
Riker and Troi are about to be attacked by one of the guards, when they're suddenly killed with a Batleth. As the guard falls, they see that it's Worf come to rescue them. They both excitedly hug him, and he reminds them that personal space is a right. They both let go, and Worf tells Troi that he's counted the number of days since he last saw her. He says he's thought of her empathic gifts during his self evaluation, and Troi says it's wonderful, while Riker feels it's inappropriate. Worf continues on, but Riker interrupts to ask if this is a rescue mission or a continuation of their torture. Worf says that they must leave, but needs to show them something first as they follow him out.

WorfRikerTroi is a rarepair in the TNG fandom. While there was a love triangle during the last season between Riker, Troi and Worf, many tend to disregard it as a last season of Trek weirdness. Especially as Worf would go on to get married in DS9. As with many love triangles, though, some saw that one of the best options would be to just have all three get together. Love for the ship was reignited with the last season of Picard however. As Worf rescuing Riker and Troi led to many remembering their love for the ship, and for some new fans to see the appeal. On AO3, there are currently 30+ works.
