The Lego Movie[]

It is unknown when Wyldstyle started dating Batman, though they share a connection as Master Builders. By the time Wyldstyle retrieved "the Special" chosen by the "Piece of Resistance", she was disappointed to find out that the piece chose a random nobody named Emmet, but by that point she was already taking him on her quest to see her mentor Vitruvius in the realm of "The Old West". On their way, Wyldstyle offhandedly mentions to Emmet that she has a boyfriend, just so that Emmet "wouldn't get any ideas".

After meeting up with Vitruvius, he volunteers to train Emmet, but they are cornered by Bad Cop, the lackey of the tyrannical Lord Business. However, when jumping towards crocodile-infested waters to escape Bad Cop's forces, the Batwing speeds by and scoops the three of them up. Emmet is at first pleasantly surprised to find that none other than Batman is one of their allies, but is then shocked when Batman refers to Wyldstyle as "babe". Wyldstyle apologizes to Emmet and properly introduces him to her boyfriend, but Emmet still couldn't believe that Wyldstyle is Batman's girlfriend. Batman then shows off his skills by master building Bad Cops flying police car into a baby carriage, further making Emmet jealous of him for his lack of such skills. When Batman nonchalantly returns to the Batwing, he initiates holding hands with his girlfriend, with Emmet third wheeling. Emmet breaks the awkward silence by telling Batman that he's flying right into the sun, but Batman tells him it will look "really cool".

The sun turned out to be a portal to another realm, Middle Zealand, where the group has to stay low out of fear of attracting the attention of dragons flying by. Batman then rebuilds his Batwing into the Batmobile and shows off his "dogs" (his subwoofers). When Emmet and Vitruvius on the backseat are literally launched out of the mobile by the loud music, Wyldstyle tells Emmet that Batman listens to "real music" and tells him that she admires Batman being the dark and brooding type. While Emmet complains that he can be dark and brooding too, Wyldstyle is singing along to Batman's metal track about darkness and being an orphan until they finally arrive at their destination: Cloudcuckooland, where Master Builders live in hiding and allow themselves to let their imaginations run free.

Batman has a distaste for the bright and colorful imagery of Cloudcuckooland, while Wyldstyle points out that Princess Unikitty's rules of "there are no rules", "no bedtimes" and "no negativity" make no sense when they're still negating a lot of things. Nonetheless, they all attend a conference among Master Builders about the arrival of the Special. Emmet completely botches his rousing speech as he lists his worst qualities first instead of inspiring hope, with Batman admitting to Wyldstyle that she was right about Emmet. His low opinion of him had only been validated by nobody noticing that Emmet had a tracking device on his leg for the majority of the journey, leading the enemy right to Cloudcuckooland.

However, Emmet's allies remain optimistic and try to work together to escape. When Emmet suggests going under, Batman steals his idea and Wyldstyle only gives him credit, so they decide to build a "Batsubmarine", though they almost don't make it due to their lack of teamwork and coordination with everyone building what they want rather than what works. When Unikitty has a panic attack over her home being destroyed, Emmet tries to comfort her by showing her one of his ideas: The "Double-Decker-Couch", but Batman sees it and mocks Emmet just like Wyldstyle did when she first saw it. However, the couch ends up saving their lives by allowing the heroes to survive a torpedo hitting their submarine and escaping the wreck undetected.

When they are saved by another Master Builder, a cyborg pirate named Metalbeard, Emmet realizes that his idea worked because it was generic. So he tells his allies to follow the instructions to sneak into Lord Business' office and infiltrate the room where his superweapon the "Kragle" is being prepared. They point out that they need a Hyperdrive to power their Octan spaceship, and it just so happens that Han Solo and his crew fly by in search of another planet to party. Batman asks if he could join, shocking Wyldstyle as she accusing him of bailing on them. Batman acts offended and tells her that he needs some space to go party with complete strangers for a healthy relationship and goes against her wishes. When Emmet notices that Wyldstyle is heartbroken, he tries to comfort her by telling her that Batman is about as blind as a guy "whose eyes stopped working" if he doesn't realize her worth and that Batman is the worst guy he had ever met. But just at that moment, Batman appears behind them, Hyperdrive in his arms and wins Wyldstyle's love right back, to Emmet's disappointment.

Emmet's plan goes mostly smoothly, but when he and Wyldstyle are on a stakeout, Emmet accuses her of putting up a mean facade to hide her emotions, surprising Wyldstyle as she never saw herself as "mean". When Emmet tells her how hurt he was by her comments, Wyldstyle opens up about her having to hide her real name, "Lucy", but Emmet tells her that he likes that name. But when they almost hold hands, Batman kills the moment when he shows up out of nowhere and tells them that he defected from his part of the plan by letting Unikitty destract Lord Business on her own and offers to help Emmet put the Piece of Resistance on the Kragle. When Wyldstyle goes to distract Bad Cop to give them time, Emmet addresses her by her real name "Lucy" when he says goodbye to her, confusing Batman as he seemingly thought "Wyldstyle" was his girlfriend's real name.

The plan fails as Wyldstyle gets caught by Bad Cop and all the heroes are brought to Lord Business torture chamber called the "Think Tank" to have their creativity sucked out of them to create the very instructions Lord Business uses to oppress the non-Master Builders. However, since freezing the entire Lego population with the Kragle makes instructions of any kind obsolete, he is perfectly content with killing all of the Master Builders at once by strapping Emmet to a bomb made by attaching a battery to a ticking timer. Emmet's allies witness him throwing himself along with the battery into the abyss to save them all, with Wyldstyle grieving the one surviving person who cared enough to find out her real name. But then her allies lament that there are no other people like Emmet, lifting her spirits by giving her the idea of sending a message across the entire universe. She tells Emmet's story, and inspires the ordinary people living in the Lego worlds to become Master Builders on their own, briefly holding Lord Business' forces back.

When Emmet returns as a Master Builder and managed to redeem Lord Business by making him believe that he is just as special as anyone, Emmet and Wyldstyle almost hold hands until they are once again stopped by Batman. However, Batman realizes how terrible of a boyfriend he was, calling Lucy by her real name when he gives her and Emmet's relationship his blessing.

During the story of the game, various characters from the Lego Multiverse get displaced from their home dimensions by portals seemingly opening at random, Batman and Gandalf being two of them ending up in Cloudcuckooland where Wyldstyle recognizes them as they both have counterparts in her world. However, her world's Batman is not happy about his doppelganger falling on top of him and engages in a slap fight with over who's the "real" Batman. When Metalbeard gets abducted by one of the portals, Wyldstyle is willing to hear the two out about something causing portals to open and scatter people in other dimensions. Almost on cue a portal opens up right beneath their feet, transporting the three of them to the Land of Oz.

Fanon[]

The WyldBat ship is not well-supported in the Lego Movie fanbase, most of the content surrounding it merely explores how they met and started dating. Though some have expressed sympathy for Batman's depression at the beginning of The Lego Batman Movie, theorizing that his breakup with Lucy might've been one cause for it.

Within the LEGO Dimensions fanbase, WyldBat is one of the more plausible ships since the other Batman is much more gentle towards Wyldstyle than his Lego Movie counterpart ever was and they spend the entirety of the main story working together. It largely hasn't caught on with fans of the game, many fans believe that Lucy was most likely already in a relationship with Emmet by the time the game's story started.
