XAlia is the het ship between Mega Man X and Alia from the Mega Man fandom.

Canon

Mega Man X5

After Stoping The Collision.

X and Alia first meet in the fifth entry. After what happened in X4 the Maverick Hunters are running low on personell, so they hire many new recruits, Alia is brought in from an old research wing and she becomes a navigator. She is paired up with X and Zero to help and give them advice dealing with the new Virus Crisis Sigma unleashes over the entire planet.

X gives Alia part of the data he acquires from the capsules of Dr. Light he finds through out the stages. Alia helps X install new upgrades to the power armors he collects, she also gives him tips in how to use them. After the end of the game she helps X recover from the injuries he took from fighting Zero, then Sigma and also fixes the Falcon Armor.

After Zero is presummed dead, X and Alia actually start to work a lot closer together and seem to be paired up for almost every operation since. Eventually they end up finding Zero's nightmare doppelganger and also watch as Isoc gives his inflamatory speech to giant crowd of Reploids and humans. Alia stops X from getting involved once he gets angry at Isoc for trying to ruin the original Zero's reputation. They also theorice he is behind the nightmare events.

It's later revealed that the main culprit of the new maverick sightings it's actually the former researcher, Gate. Alia later opens up to X and reveals that she used to know Gate from their researcher days and that she was forced to conspire with other researchers to ruin Gate's work including getting some reploids killed, X tells her that the past can't be changed now and that he will stop Gate regardless.

At the end of the game Gate is killed by Sigma but X recovers his body since he knew he used to mean something for Alia. They can also get surprised together if Zero wasn't unlocked when he randomly pops up behind them.

X decides to come back to action, Alia is suprised, Zero shrugs it off.

X and Alia have a lesser role in the game, since Alia only appears in a couple of cutscenes and in menu transitions (Not counting generic hints) and X isn't unlocked since at least most stages are already completed (The player needs to rescue 64 bystanders and there are 16 in each regular level). Alia isn't completely keen on X decision to retire on fighting but also doesn't judge him for it, she is also pleasently surprised when he decides to come back.

In the 4Koma comics there is a strip included where Axl asks Alia if X is or acts weird all the time and Alia ends up going on about how X is just really passionate and wonderful, she gets flustered and cuts the transmission off, scaring Axl.

In X8 Alia actually gets fully paired up with X as his navigator full time (Like Iris was to Zero) since there are others to fill off. Alia focuses on giving general tips about the levels and also usually gives more of them compared to Layer and Pallette. In one of the cutcenes X expresses his exhaustion at the idea of having to fight other reploids yet again and Alia simpathizes with him, she also tells Axl off when he tries to make a joke of the situation but X tells her he undertand that they don't have a choice but to fight anyway and that he'll get over it.

In this game the player can actually buy an upgrade at the shop that makes the navigators playable. This means that for the first time in the series Alia becomes playable and given the mechanic of bringing more than one character at a time in a level she can actually fight alongside X in the field at the same time.

XAlia is one of the more popular ships in the Mega Man franchise. It's the more popular ship for both characters, usually competing with XxZero, XxMarty and AliaxGate. Some reasons for it's popularity are that X and Alia actually share a lot of the same ideals and complement each other very well, them both being buster users also helps, the blue and pink color scheme they make is also really appealing. There are new player that even when barely having started playing the games when looking at them for the first time they already assume they are each other's love interests, just because of their designs.

In X8 it's also encouraged to pair Hunters with Navigators together, since having 2 characters with the same fighting style can give the player an advantage if they control 1 in particular better than the other 2.

XxAlia is often paired alongside ZeroxIris (And sometimes AxlxCinnamon from X7 and up), the main reason it's because it's the 2 original hunters and the 2 original navigators. It also has a level of visual consistency, since X is confirmed to have brunette hair and green eyes just like Iris and Alia has blond hair and blue eyes just like Zero.

Trivia

• From Mega Man X8 onwards Alia has been consistently being portrayed as being directly connected with X, having a similar design (Robot-Wise) and having most abilities being specific parallels to his.
• Probably a coincidence, the final fight in the X Challenge mode in the second volume of the X Legacy Collection is X fighting a team-up of Gate and Dynamo. Gate and Dynamo are the other 2 most popular character to be shipped with Alia, so the fight is ironically making them fight over it. Even more amusingly, Dynamo, who never canonically interacts with Alia, is far easier to beat in the fight than Gate, who had a past with Alia and unlike Dynamo can only be hurt by his own weapon.
