Xavolina is the non-binary ship between Xavin and Karolina Dean from the Marvel and Runaways fandoms.

Karolina meets Xavin after suffering rejection from Nico, her crush for many months. Xavin reveals that they are a Skrull and claims they are Karolina's fiancé, as her parents had setup an arranged marriage without her knowledge. Karolina initially rejects Xavin proposal and they briefly fight after Karolina won't join them. However, after hearing that the marriage would be part of a peace treaty between Karolina home world and Xavin's, Karolina feels more inclined to accept. She accepted fully when Xavin expressed no concern for changing their physical appearance from male to female to please her. The two then leave earth for several months to get married but the ceremony falls through after some guests begin fighting and Karolina's home-world, Majesdane, is destroyed in the aftermath. They return to the Runaways.
Xavin once took the form of Nico in order to see if Karolina still had feeling for her, but Karolina rejected her as Nico and reassured Xavin that she loves them as they are. Later during an argument, Xavin subconsciously reverted to a female form, which both surprised and pleased Karolina, who had earlier expressed some discomfort at being romantically involved with Xavin while they were in a male form.
In Runaways's "Dead Wrong" story arc, a group of surviving Majesdanians arrive to arrest Karolina for her parent's crimes and Majesdane's destruction. After multiple attacks on the Runaways, Xavin realizes they won't stop until they capture Karolina. In order to save Karolina and the rest of the Runaways, Xavin shape-shifts into Karolina's form and takes her place. They share a final kiss before Xavin departs.
TV Series[]
Xavin is a Xartan in the Runaways TV series. Having once been a stowaway in Johan's ship, they begin telepathically conversing with Karolina upon their release. Xavin believes they and Karolina are part of a prophecy that is said to unite two worlds and bring peace to the universe. For this reason they propose to Karolina soon after meeting, claiming they are betrothed. Karolina is mostly confused by the situation. Xavin later tries rescuing Karolina from Jonah, but is overpowered.
Fanon[]
Xavolina was once the most popular pairings within the Runways fandom. They were one of the few canon queer pairings at Marvel in 2005 and gained a strong following thanks to that. Many fans were disappointed when Xavin was written out of Runaways and still hope for their return in comics. After the 2017 Hulu series began airing, fans renewed their hope that Xavin would be included, as well their their relationship with Karolina. However, Deanoru becoming canon in both the show and comics has made Xavolina a less popular pairings recently.
