I—I've read almost every novel from Yae Publishing House. P—Pretty normal, right?
—Citlali's Voiceline Chat: Novels

Yaelali is the femslash ship between Yae Miko and Citlali from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Canon[]

As of the current storyline, Citlali and Yae Miko have yet to actually meet. They reside in different regions, being Natlan and Inazuma respectively. In their regions, they both take on a role of high importance, Citlali being a powerful shaman and fortune teller, and Yae Miko being the Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine.

It is very likely Citlali knows of Yae Miko, being very fond of her industry, Yae Publishing House's novels. Citlali's said love for novels is mentioned in many of her voicelines: in her voiceline "Chat: Novels", she states she has read almost every single novel from Yae Publishing House. In her voiceline "About Citlali: Mirage Warriors", she tells the Traveler about one of the oldest and most renowned works of the aforementioned industry. In her voiceline "(Traveler's) Birthday", she considers gifting the latter the novel "Flowers for Princess Fischl", again from the Yae Publishing House.

Their personalities are quite different. Citlali often tries to hide her true feelings especially regarding love, is rarely open with anyone and is very short-tempered. Yae Miko tends to display a much more carefree and mischievous demeanor, finding amusement in teasing others. Behind these dispositions, both do genuinely care for their loved ones, showing it in different ways.

Gameplay-wise, the two have more differences than similarities. They are both 5-star characters wielding catalysts. Despite this, Citlali and Yae Miko are used for differing purposes, as shown by their designated Imaginarium Theater roles. Citlali's Ascension Passive makes her an efficient support for Pyro characters, while Yae Miko is more so a main damage dealer.

In terms of designs, Citlali and Yae Miko's color palettes both consist of purple and pink, but of different shades and quantities. Citlali's hair is a pale pink fading into purple, and the majority of her attire is purple and blue with pink accents. Yae Miko, on the other hand, has brighter and darker pink hair, with her attire mainly being white and red. She also has very little purple in her design, only visible in her eyes, jewelry, vision and small details in her outfit.

Fanon[]

Overall, Yaelali is quite unpopular in the Genshin Impact fandom. Before Version 5.3, the ship gained a small fanbase following leaks of Citlali's idle animations, one of them depicting her reading a light novel. Seeing this, fans joked that the novel was from Yae Publishing House, and hence began humorously shipping Citlali with Yae Miko. After Citlali was officially released in-game, it was revealed she indeed does read Yae Publishing House novels, further fueling the ship. Fan works of Yaelali often involve Citlali visiting Inazuma to either meet Yae Miko or buy her novels. The majority of fans do not see a romantic relationship between them working, due to them having duties in their own regions. Though it could be possible for them to have a long-distance relationship through letters and occasional visits. Yaelali is still very much a rarepair, with Citlali and Yae Miko's more preferred ships being Aelali and EiMiko.
