YanPai is the het ship between Ayano Aishi and Taro Yamada from the Yandere Simulator fandom.

Canon

Story Mode (202X)

Before meeting Taro, Ayano just wandered through life with no purpose. Ayano meets Taro only a few days before the start of the game and stops caring about the sense of right or wrong like she used to after the match.

Ayano acts like a pervert next to him, wanting to go to the boys locker room to admire him or steal something from him.  What she feels towards him is not lust, it is something more like seeing color in a monochrome world, feeling warmth in a cold world, and listening to music in a world without sound. It may not be true romance, as it seems that he only causes Ayano new sensations.

If she accidentally hurt Taro, she would have severe depression (so severe that she would stop eating and starve). However, Ayano agrees to mentally traumatize Taro so that he stops associating with any girl.

Ayano cannot interfere with anything that makes Taro happy, as long as it's not a girl. Because of this, Taro could use it if she wanted to. However, if he insulted her, she would punish him and even torture him to conform to her ideals.

Taro is not very close to Ayano and doesn't know much about her. He usually doesn't notice her so she may harass him after school, depending on how her day went. However, if she stands next to him for too long during the day he might notice her and start to get worked up.

If Ayano loses Taro's love or is rejected by him at some point, YandereDev can imagine her crying over it.  If Taro were to be killed and Ayano knew who was responsible, she would feel a mixture of deep hatred and a total emptiness inside her. If Taro were to commit suicide because of Ayano, she would do the same. If Taro died because of an accident or disease, she would fall into a coma-like depression. She would refuse to eat and would eventually starve to death. If Taro died because of murder, Ayano would make sure the killer dies in the most painful way possible, then fall into the coma-like depression.

Ayano has no preferences regarding food, but whatever Taro's favorite food is would be her favorite as well. The same thing applies to her favorite color, though Ayano's signature color is black.

Ayano would love to confess to Taro under the cherry tree one day.

In the first introduction, Ayano was not a yandere; she was forced by Info-Chan to become one, and was terrified at the thought of killing another person. She's just a "starved for love" girl who wants a boyfriend. She hasn't even thought about killing Osana before Info-chan tells her about her.

In the second intro, prior to meeting Taro, Ayano is instead callous, apathetic, and speaks with a dead expression for as long as she can remember. She will do anything to prevent someone from dating him, even if it means murder, since Ayano doesn't have the ability to feel emotion, empathy, or remorse. She feels no guilt or shame for murdering others. She knows that people in general regard this as "bad", but she doesn't care.

Another factor that may have turned Ayano into a Yandere is the fact that her mother, Ryoba Aishi, manipulated her into becoming one by teaching her how to clean up blood and (most likely) hide and dispose of bodies when she was a child.

Mission Mode

Mission Mode takes place in an alternate reality of Yandere Simulator. Here, Ayano is not a Yandere who is obsessed with Senpai. Instead, she is a young assassin hired by Info-Chan who is was assigned to kill various targets. Prior to the events of Mission Mode, her first assigned target was none other than Taro Yamada. Because of this, Senpai is dead in Mission Mode, meaning he is not an obstacle there. Senpai's death is also the reason Nemesis will try and hunt the player down in the game, as Nemesis is the adult version of Hanako Yamada, Senpai's sister and the 9th rival. Even though Senpai is dead, it is likely that he and Ayano would’ve been enemies in Mission Mode.

Fanon

Yanpai is one of the most popular and controversial ships in the Yandere Simulator fandom. Ayano may think that she is better than her rivals since when she sees Osana, she believes that Osana will never be able to love Senpai like she does. Many fans also believe that there are many other boys and girls at Akademi who are much more attractive than Senpai, such as Budo Masuta or Oka Ruto, and don't understand why she has feelings for such a bland and generic character.

Some fans have theorized that after eliminating her rivals, Ayano will get arrested by Ichirou Saikou before getting the chance to confess to Senpai. She would win the court case, but would then be afraid that Senpai would reject her love confession because she'd make the headlines. Because of this, she kidnaps Taro against his will. Afterwards, she either will mindbreak him or keep him tied up forever until she is 100% sure he won't run away. The latter scenario is similar to how Ryoba Aishi got her Senpai and married him.

In one of GhoulGirl90's fanfictions on YouTube, Info-chan betrays Ayano by spreading news to the whole school that Ayano manipulated people, got students expelled, and ruined others' relationships. After hearing of this, Taro is disgusted and rejects Ayano immediately. Afterwards, she decides to perform a ritual to go back in time to get another chance at winning Senpai, though she didn't get exactly what she wanted.

The ship is popular in the fandom, however is overshadowed by more popular shipping choices such as Ayando. fans will also ship and even prefer the other variants of the ship; such as Ayato x Taeko (their genderbent counterparts), or Ayano x Taeko and Ayato x Taro. Many fans even prefer to ship Ayando or Tarodo.
