Yiga Husbands is the slash ship between Master Kohga and Sooga from The Legend of Zelda fandom.

Canon[]

Years before the events of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity begin, Sooga who was weak and starving as a young man, was dragging into the Yiga Clan camp, which he is quickly apprehended by the Yiga Footsoldiers before Master Kohga walks out and finds Sooga lying there and he appoaches him which looks like he was going to kill him, but instead chooses to give him a banana instead and tells him that he may have to repay him at a later time. Sooga is welcomed as a member of the Yiga Clan, where he underwent intense training up until the point where he is promoted as Master Kohga's second in command.

Years later, Master Kohga ultimately fails to manipulate the Gerudo through disguising himself as Urbosa, only to be exposed by the real one. As he is fighting a losing battle against Link, Princess Zelda, Impa, and Urbosa, Sooga arrives to deliver energy slices from his katanas to push back Link and Urbosa before taking Kohga out of the battlefield and insists that they leave them behind, calling them cowards and escapes before they are attacked by an angry Urbosa.

At the Yiga Clan Hideout, Astor finds out about their failure and had his expectations high enough for them which they did not fulfil, and they listen to his plan on preventing Calamity Ganon from being defeated. Sooga ambushes the Champions at Castle Town as he makes it known that he is there to assassinate Princess Zelda, which despite succeeding in leading them far away from Zelda, he ultimately fails as Link blocks the killing blow. Later, at the hideout, Astor notifies them that the Hyruleans are using the Sheikah Slate to activate the Sheikah Towers that could end up giving away their location, he adds that Harbinger Ganon is corrupted by the soul of Ganon and intends to use it for world domination, though Sooga warns him that Calamity Ganon is not for mortals to control.

Sooga has attempted and failed to prevent the last Sheikah Tower in the Akkala region from being activated, and with the knowledge that would be beneficial to seek out the Yiga Clan Hideout, Urbosa leads the strike to expose the hideout to destroy the Yiga Clan. Master Kohga and Sooga work together to repel them, which they ultimately failed to do so. After that, both Kohga and Sooga sit at the cliff together, frustrated by recent events, and when Astor arrives, they were very mad at him that he did not predict their failure when he did accurately predict that their hideout would be found and threaten him, though they were forced to back down when Astor reminds them that turning on him is a betrayal to Calamity Ganon.

During the Guardian of Remembrance Scenarios, after the Champions were rescued from the Blight Ganons by the future warriors, both Master Kohga and Sooga do their missions separately which both of them did not succeed. Soon after, Astor betrays both of them by using the Yiga soldiers as blood sacrifice and reaps their spirits to use them to revive the Blights, Kohga and Sooga were shocked and angered by the revelation and Sooga blocks an attack from a Link Hollow and tells Kohga to escape, which he was about to but changes his mind, refusing to leave his best lackey behind. Sooga then vows to protect him even if it results in his death.

They managed to escape from Astor, but they now have to fight Calamity Ganon's monsters, who have turned on them as well and end up having to fight the Hollows to protect the Yiga Blademasters while attempting to avoid the Blight Ganons. They end up having to put up a fight with all four of the blights when it proved to be inescapable, with Sooga repeatedly pleading for Kohga to flee which the latter repeatedly refused. Eventually after defeating them, Sooga finally collapsed, forcing Kohga to carry him through the rain. Sooga again tells Kohga to get away only for the latter to rebuff him for saying things like that, which Sooga recalled their first meeting. They are found by the blights, but Sooga uses a special technique to immobilize them and urges Kohga once more to make his escape. Master Kohga finally relents with extreme reluctance as he mournfully leaves him behind. Sooga gets back up and takes his last stand against the blights while asking Kohga if he has payed him back. It's unknown what happened to Sooga, but Master Kohga is confirmed to have sided with his former enemies to take revenge on Astor and Calamity Ganon for his fallen clanmates.

Fanon[]

Yiga Husbands has been shown to be a popular ship between Kohga and Sooga within the Zelda community, due to their strong comradery with each other. Both Kohga and Sooga have traits that complement each other with Master Kohga's childish hammy comedic nature with Sooga's level-headed, competence, and serious nature who provides the Yiga Clan's morality. It is quite common for Sooga's loyalty to be taken up to eleven which he tells Kohga to take his leave as to not hold him back any further when the situation gets to be too dire, showing how much he cares for Kohga enough to let him escape alive and Sooga's ambiguous fate during his final appearance proving to be such an emotional moment regarding them. Master Kohga is also extremely loyal to Sooga as he is the reason why Sooga is alive, not only saving him from starvation, but also from being killed before he had a chance to meet him and despite his cowardly nature, he is willing to put it aside to protect him, even when his chances of his life being threatened is at its highest. Kohga and Sooga are not always shipped as romantic partners, as there are stories that have them as just being friends.
