Abominable[]
Introduction
Upon the begin of the movie Yi is already on distant terms with Jin.
One morning Yi is doing various tasks to earn money for herself, leaving an restaurant recently and passes by Jin, which walked together with three friends from school all focused on their smartphones. Yi covered her eyes with her sunglasses to avoid any interaction with the group, but behind her glasses she eyed the old friend serious, while Jin rolled his eyes behind her in an arrogant manner. Jin grinned as one of his friends mocked her.
Later in the evening, Yi had bumped into Jin's cousin and begged him to play with Jin instead, but he refused to knowing his cousin was too busy. Upon noticing the boy leaving for a date, Jin teases Yi about her smell from the fish restaurant and Yi returns a comeback, afterward being interrupted by the kid, which hoped to gain both's interest into the match, but both still refused.
Start of an adventure
Jin appears on the roof talking to his cousin, then shrieks as he saw Yi on top of a white yeti and she shocked about the revelation questioned the duo, what they were up there. Jin picked up a chair to approach the yet, while trying to call the police and distance Yi away from the yeti. Yi assures Jin he's harmless and the yeti growls at Jin. Yi comments its species in which Jin a little frightened answered, Yetis don't exist. Yi is taken by the yeti as an helicopter appears above the sky looking for the animal and Jin ran out of the building along with his cousin to see the yeti was far away with the girl.
Later into the night, Jin managed to catch up to Yi at the harbor, where he caught Yi jumping at a boat to follow the yeti. Jin calls Yi crazy from following the yeti and panics as his cousin ends up hoping on the boat as well. Now, that both his friends were there Jin had no other choice and jumped into the vehicle as well. Jin went all dramatic and commented, that he's so angry at her, that he can't even talk to her.
The next day, Jin called his mother to make up a lie to cover his, Peng and Yi's absence. Jin complains to Yi, that he can't believe it he had to lie to his own mother about their issue. The team hid after the ship arrived at a foreign harbor in a crate and they got carried away by a truck far away from the harbor. During the ride, the yeti caused the crate to break apart leaving Jin and Yi back, while the yeti ran along with Peng into the forest for an emergency. Jin tries to find on his smartphone the way back to the harbor, then plans to reunite the team to follow him. Yi watched the yeti begin to do magic to which a confused Jin looked to as well. Jin observed the blueberries the yeti made grow magically and got laughed at by Yi and Peng as one of the blueberries cracked right onto his face. The kids all run off as the magic caused the blueberries to grow bigger and pop off. The trio ended up being hit on a later point by the berries anyway.
Later at night, Yi and Jin discuss, what had happened. Yi was convinced yeti Everest was special due to its ability of magic and Jin was against her theory, as by natural law, that was unrealistic. Despite the things they saw were right to Yi's eyes, Jin somewhat couldn't convince himself, that she was right and that it had another reason, he couldn't explain well. Jin during the conversation gets annoyed at his cousin from playing with the yeti and Yi realizes the yeti is just a cub, then tries to show Jin, how she believes it's true. Jin is against Yi's idea of accompanying the yeti back to the Himalayas and both argue about their different views of the situation. Both end their discussion as Peng had fallen asleep with the yeti cub and they lied down on the ground as well, saddened with their dispute.
Continuation
Yi was awake earlier and played on her violin to entertain the yeti. Jin had woken up as well and sat far away from the two observing them with an enchanted smile. Peng passed by Jin upon hearing the music, then Jin sneaks carefully with his cousin behind the tree to watch them. Peng accidentally breaks a branch shrieking Yi, which stopped. Jin stopped Peng from starting the conversation in the wrong direction, but Yi seemed to be less hurt by it. Jin watched the both talk with a neutral face, then thought about asking them to move on. Yi was surprised, that Jin wanted to move on and her surprised face left seconds later as Jin admitted by the next harbor they could catch each hour a new boat. She said they could go home, but she would go with Everest instead.
Later the team reached by the yellow mountains and Jin was against crossing the mountains to visit the next harbor. Yi shrugs her shoulders, followed by Jin sighing as Everest and Peng ran upstairs. Upon reaching at one point of the mountain the group is surprised by drones, which are hunting Everest and are shoved against a wall. Everest uses his magic again to grow a dandelion, which Yi had picked up before and all, except for Jin jumped on it to fly off. Yi and Peng called Jin to get on top of it as well. Jin ran after them and jumped to grab Peng's hand, afterward crashed with his stomach against a fence losing his friends, which flew away leaving Jin behind. Jin yelled after them, that he would meet them on the other side. One of the drones hunts Jin downstairs, causing him to trip and fall down.
Days later...
Jin upon finding out, the bad guys really wanted to get rid of him and his friends he ran off through the forest and the wild, ruining his expensive clothes. He grew out of his comfort zone instantly throughout those days and was willingly to exchange his dear smartphone in order to get a boat to ride to his friends. He managed to find Yi by the first village after the mountain and helps her catch Peng and Everest. With the yeti's magic, they escape the bad guys fast, but as Everest went too far with his magic, he caused the team to fall off the tidal wave caused with flowers and crash on the ground. After the landing, Jin and Yi went to look for Peng, which was alright. Everest began to make strange noises and Yi recognized, that the yeti was about to barf and Jin asked Everest to pull it down, but he ended up spitting out from his mouth a large wave of petals at Jin's face. Jin cleaned up his face disgusted while Yi and Peng were amused by the situation. Yi finds her violin broken on the ground, then is shocked about it. Jin watched her ran off, then hesitated in running after her and stood there with a sad face. He looked along with Everest to each other and Everest whined, begging Jin to go look for her.
Jin went into the forest to find her sitting on a rock, sad about the issue. Jin sat next to her and asked her, if she was alright. Yi recalled, that it was her dad's violin and on it hung many memories from his dad and hers. Jin listened to her and apologized for having said inappropriate things to her due to her social distancing related to the grief. Yi confessed, that Jin was right about being distant, but she had no idea, why she was doing it and why she didn't ask anyone for help yet. She didn't know why everyone was distant with her and Jin asks her if she was sure, that they were the ones being distant with her. Yi looked at Jin realizing, she was actually wrong and Jin got up to confess to her something as well. He had told Yi, that he had been a terrible person and his only interest in becoming a doctor was, that he looked good in white. Yi admitted he was terrible, which Jin accepted as it was the truth. Jin afterward sighs and mentions to Yi, they have to leave immediately, cause they're being hunted by the bad guys because of Everest.
Road Trip's almost over
Yi's violin had been fixed by Everest and she used it as a way to clear her soul by the Leshan Buddha, one of her late father's favorite monuments. Jin had been impressed by Yi and by the fact, that the replacement for the strings were fur from Everest made now magic too. Jin plucked one of the grown flowers, which Yi made with help of her violin and promised her to get up to the Himalayas with Everest.
By a bridge the trio was getting closer to the mountains, then got blocked by the bad guys, which had gotten there first. The trio now had no idea how to get out and were protected by the yeti, which summoned a storm to prevent the hunters to hurt them. The hunters took the yeti down with tranquilizer darts and grabbed all kids to take them away from the creature. Jin watched Yi free herself from one of the bad guys to attack the main poacher, which managed to outsmart Yi and push her off the bridge shrieking Jin. Jin was brought along with Peng into the car and both kept calling Yi's name despite her having disappeared into the darkness.
The boys were still in the car and Everest's magic pushed their car colony into a outwit of the road. The duo got out of the car to see Yi and Everest were back and all got reunited.
The trio minus Everest returned back to Shanghai with help of the main boss of the bad guys, which had a change of heart and the kids ran upstairs and by the last level the altered Jin stood back with Peng, exchanging smiles with an altered Yi, which was happy to get to see her family again, On the same night, Yi had Jin and his cousin over for dinner.
The ending credits show images of the trio, now hanging out together as friends. One of their last images Jin and Yi are sitting by sunset beside each other on the rooftop looking at the sky. It remains unknown, if it's either a romantic moment or a one. It might be the latter as Peng happens to be standing beside Jin looking at him aiming his finger up at a cloud.

Yin is currently the only existing ship in Abominable. Which is why Yin seems to be interesting as a ship among fans on the internet despite them being friends only. According to the DreamWorks wikia, Jin and Yi are hinted to be romantically interested in each other. Moments between them in the film, like when Jin gave Yi a flower helps to back up this claim. Along with the fact that most couples have started out as friends before becoming lovers. This is why Yin fans are hoping that the ship will become canon in the follow-up TV series.
Funnily, several fans on TikTok believe, that Jin and Yi are related, despite the movie actually stating the two to be childhood friends.
