Yoshiden is the slash ship between Hirofumi Yoshida and Denji from the Chainsaw Man fandom.
Canon[]
They first met in chapter 55 (volume 7). Yoshida and Denji only had very few interactions in the first part of the manga during International Assassins Arc where Yoshida had to protect Denji and they only interacted a few times in the second. Denji didn't even remember Yoshida anymore when he had come to tell him about an organization he was part of.
They both have the same mentor, Kishibe.
They meet again in chapter 103 (volume 12). Yoshida invites Denji to catch up in a nearby café, offering to treat Denji who's broke. In the café, Denji points out that Yoshida's wearing his school's uniform and Yoshida said that it's a crazy coincidence they go to the same school. Denji asks if Yoshida is stalking him, to which Yoshida responds with a laugh. Yoshida says that Denji isn't exactly wrong, he has been tasked by an organization to keep an eye on Denji to ensure Denji lives a peaceful life.
In chapter 104 (volume 13), Yoshida returns the student I.D. card Denji purposefully dropped during the fight with a devil. Denji asks why it matters to Yoshida if he exposed his secret identity. Yoshida answers that he can't have that happen when his goal is for Denji to live in peace and that he will stop Denji by force if he tries to spill the beans. Denji isn't impressed by this and threatens Yoshida before saying he's going back to what he was doing (being a chair for a girl who paid him ten yen). Yoshida asks Denji to stay and chat a bit longer, offering to pay Denji to be his chair. Denji initially refuses, saying he's not letting a dude sit on him, but ends up accepting after Yoshida gives him 10000 yen. Sitting on Denji's back, Yoshida says that it's surprisingly comfortable and Denji could get away with charging 100 yen. Continuing their conversation, Denji claims he's not going to stop trying to get exposed and Yoshida asks if he's doing that because he wants a girlfriend. Denji confirms it and Yoshida offers to help him find a girlfriend. The matchmaking ends up in failure.
In chapter 110, Yoshida pulls Denji away from the battlefield when he tried to expose his secret identity to a scared girl. Denji is held upside down by the octopus devil contracted by Yoshida. The dark-haired boy calls Denji hopeless and says he already told Denji he'd stop him by force if he had to.
Fanon[]
Yoshiden was an unpopular ship during the first part of the manga but gained popularity during the second part. This is the second most popular ship in the manga tag with 700+ works on AO3, the first for Denji and the first for Yoshida.
Some fans imagine that Yoshida would be gay because he rejected the advances of a girl and would be in love with Denji because he seems to be very interested in the latter.
Many fanfics have it that Denji discovers he is bisexual when he finds out he is attracted to Yoshida. There are also a lot of smut fanfictions where Yoshida pays denji to have sexual relationships with him.
Their very opposite personalities are also appreciated by shippers.
In just one month since their reunion, the ship has become one of the most popular in the fandom.
