YouChika is the femslash ship between You Watanabe and Chika Takami from the Love Live! fandom.

Canon

You and Chika have been friends since childhood. The two used to play together along with Kanan Matsuura, another close friend of theirs. While You was at the swimming club, Chika was still wondering which club to join. Whenever You offered her to join a club, Chika refused. Therefore, You wished that one day she and Chika could do something that both of them were passionate about.

Season 1

At the beginning of the series, Chika excitedly showed You that she was going to start an Idol Club and began rehearsing in front of her. You was surprised because she had not been interested in any club before. Anyway, You decided to help Chika fulfill her dream. However, You already knew that Dia, the student council president, was not going to allow them to create the club because she had already rejected another girl who also wanted that, but she did not tell them until they were finally rejected. You was excited because she always wanted to do something with Chika that both of them would love, and starting to be idols now was an opportunity.

However, since they founded the Idol Club, Chika began spending more time with Riko than with You. This caused You to feel jealous, because for once she and Chika could do something that they both like, she was starting to get past her. Mari realized You's jealousy and went to talk to her. After You confessed how she felt to Mari, she advised her to be honest with Chika. However, You was still afraid to tell Chika what she felt and was wondering how to tell it. In the end You told everything to Riko, so that she would respond that Chika also told her about it. Then Chika came to You's house to ask her to practice with her more, telling her that it was better for her to follow her own steps and that they could start again together. You ended up hugging Chika and crying in her arms.

Moments

Season 1

• When one of Chika's sisters told You that Chika would get bored of being an idol soon, You responded that it's not that she's bored but that she doesn't like doing things halfway and wants everything to turn out as expected. The sister told You that she knows Chika very well.
• After not receiving any votes at her first concert, You asked Chika if she was going to give up. Afterwards, she stayed at home thoughtful and worried about stopping being an idol with Chika while she looked at photos of the two of them.
• After Riko told Chika about her upcoming piano concert, You asked Chika how she was and then looked at Riko, the first sign of You's jealousy over the relationship between Chika and Riko.
• In episode 11, while they were training, the two were not in sync with each other and the two tried to apologize to each other for it.

Fanon

YouChika is one of the most popular ships in the fandom. It has a big competence against ChikaRiko. Eventually, it is often shipped along side YohaRiko. Other solution for many is shipping Chika, You and Riko in a polyamorous relation. It is sometimes compared with HonoKoto, YuuPomu and ChisaKanon, since all of them involve the main character with her childhood friend.

Some YouChika shippers complain about how the anime gave more Chika and Riko moments compared with Chika and You. Other people don't like how most of You's character development is about her relationship with Chika.
