Young-mi x Door is the cargo ship between Kim Young-mi and Door from the Squid Game fandom.

Canon

The scene with Young-mi and the door is very short as her death is very quick. The 2024 Squid Game challenges have been changed, including "Six Legs" and "Mingle", except for the first game "Red Light, Green Light". In the game called "Mingle", where all players must stop on a platform in the middle of the arena. Once the game begins, the platform will start to revolve. Shortly after, a number will be called out, and the players must form a group that matches this number, enter one of the surrounding rooms, and close the door within 30 seconds, or be eliminated.

In the first round, the number 'ten' is called, and Young-mi's team joins Gi-hun's five-person team to enter a room, grabbing Seon-nyeo for their final player. In the second round, when 'four' is announced, Young-mi survives after entering a room with Hyun-ju, Geum-ja, and Yong-sik but leaves Seon-nyeo behind since the group is already full. The third round requires groups of three, so Young-mi and Hyun-ju pair up to find their final member. At the last moment, they are saved by Park Gyeong-seok.

For the fourth round, players must form groups of six. Young-mi’s four-member team gains Kang Dae-ho and Kim Jun-hee. However, as they rush toward a room, a player from a neighboring group collides with Young-mi, separating her. Hyun-ju tries to save her, but Lee Myung-gi pushes Hyun-ju inside and shuts the door before time runs out, securing the group but leaving Young-mi outside. Young-mi begins to cry, looking at her friends through a gap in the door. Hyun-ju desperately tries to help her, but moments later, Young-mi is shot in the back and dies. She dies as she falls against the door and is later taken by the workers as she's put into a coffin.

Fanon

Although this scene is tragic and sadder, the increased fanbase following the release of Season 2 so it is inevitable that there is a lot of humorous and satirical fan-content. It is often associated with other popular jokes/crackships such as ThanosxFork, Nam-gyuxDrugs and The Salesman x Bread in Season 2. Mainly on TikTok, where many users recreate the scene of Young-mi calling Hyun-ju as "unnie" behind the door with low-quality and comical visuals, it is also quite popularly recreated on Roblox. Therefore, using this joke might be somewhat controversial, but it is mainly intended for fun and lighthearted enjoyment. Since Squid Game can sometimes have heavy themes, so many people create content to provide viewers with a sense of relaxation and entertainment.

The actor for Young-mi, Kim Si-eun, also gets lots of praise for this scene because people mention that she made it very believable that she actually died. People also like to point out that when Young-mi gets shot, her pupils go dark when the light fades away from her eyes, as if her life fades away as well.

It also serves as an iconic moment for the Hyunmi ship. Though, unlike ThanosxFork, there isn't much or any content for the ship in a satirical romantic way.

• Notably, Young-mi's death was foreshadowed before being eliminated. In the aforementioned game after the end of the second round, Hyun-ju's team was staring evilly at Seon-nyeo, in which Young-mi was the main one. This may confirm that Seon-nyeo knew her fate before being eliminated.
• The person Young-mi collided with before she could enter the door was Player 051. He was knocked into Young-mi by Player 073, who was pushed out of a room by Player 249 at that moment, so many people blame him for Young-mi's death. It is worth noting that Player 073 was seen pushing 249 out of a room earlier that round round.
