YuTeddie is the slash ship between The Persona 4 Protagonist and Teddie from the Persona fandom.

Canon[]

Persona 4 Golden[]

Teddie is introduced to Yu, Yosuke, and Chie on their first day into the TV world, where Teddie seems agitated at their arrival. He pushes them out quickly after. He only opens up to Yu once his Persona is summoned and defeats Yosuke's other self. Teddie, throughout the game, praises Yu for his skills and his ability to lead the investigation team from this point forward, and nicknames him "Sensei". He makes a promise with Yu and the rest of the Investigation Team, saying that he wants them to find the murderer behind the Inaba serial killer cases, and that he'll do his best to help out too.

Teddie's Social Link is formed on June 25th, when they save Rise and Teddie from their other selves in the TV World. Teddie protects Yu and the rest of the team from certain death against Rise Kujikawa's shadow, which in turn, heavily injures himself. When they confront Teddie's shadow afterwards, Teddie realizes that he may not be anyone special, and that his hunt for "his true self" may not even exist. The protagonist has the option to reply with "You're not alone", to which Teddie responds with gratitude, saying "I really won't be alone"? When the I.T. begin to get ready to leave, Teddie begins to train his body, and tells Yu that he sees something special in him, and that he wants to do his best to be useful to him in the future.

When the Investigation Team catch Mitsuo Kubo, Teddie feels dejected when they all celebrate with Nanako at the Dojima residence. He confides in Yu, saying that now that they've caught the culprit behind the cases, that he now has no purpose staying in the human world. Teddie makes a promise with Nanako to play with her as much as possible, and Yu has the option to say "Don't go, Teddie!" Teddie, in response, begins to cry and say "I'm really, really happy..."

On the class trip to Tatsumi Port Island, Teddie (unknowingly) tags along with the rest of the group. He shows up once the gang is ready to head into the Clamshell Inn. When Teddie discusses how he tailed the group, Yu realizes Teddie's ever-growing trust and affection towards him and the group. Yu helps Teddie inside the Inn. The next day, the group heads to a local club in the evening, along with Naoto Shirogane. Reserving a public booth, Teddie, Rise, and Yukiko grow under the influence from the atmosphere of the inn, and decide to play the King's Game. If the protagonist chooses to draw the far stick, Teddie will ask him to "smooch". At first, Teddie seems a little hesitant, but follows up after being told that he's not able to switch, that his love is just for Sensei, through the form of a haiku. He ends up kissing Kanji instead after accidentally tackling him over.

When the Investigation Team decide to do a physical examination on Teddie, they find out that his body is strange- and that he has no vital organs, or even skeleton, through X-Rays. Teddie seems troubled when he talks privately to Yu, saying that he still has no idea what he is. The protagonist has the option to respond with "We'll find out together", to which Teddie thanks him with immense gratitude.

Afterwards, the group decides to get together for a study session for their midterms. When they go off topic, Teddie discusses with the rest of the group in his concern about finding his true self, and that he has speculations, but no true leads. Nanako calls Teddie a king that was cursed by someone evil, in which Teddie takes it to heart a little. When Nanako and the rest of the I.T. leave to buy snacks, Teddie stays behind with Yu, asking if he could really be a king. The protagonist has the option to say "Maybe you are". Teddie laughs happily, and says that "he has a fuzzy feeling that Sensei will help him find his true self."

When searching Junes for a kotatsu and gifts for Nanako in the hospital, Teddie wonders if he truly belongs with the group anymore. He asks if he's allowed to stay, and that he doesn't want to leave until Nanako gets better. The team tells him to stay, and Yu has the option to tell him that he can stay over at his place. Teddie begins to break down and cry, thanking Sensei for everything.

Teddie's final social link rank will show him appearing in the Velvet Room, where he tells Yu that he finally knows what he is. He explains to the protagonist about how he truly is a shadow, and that he's been nothing but a shadow. Teddie begins to cry due to his overwhelming feelings, and when comforted by the protagonist, he says "If there's one thing I know, it's that I'm glad I met you, Sensei." He ends their conversation by saying "I should get going. This is your place... It doesn't seem like somewhere I'm allowed to stay... Goodbye, Sensei..." and disappears from the Velvet Room.

At the beginning of January, Yu begins to feel sick when Teddie stays over at his house. Teddie helps out in any way he can with Yu's ongoing cold, and as the rest of the Investigation Team comes over to wish him well, he explains that he's been "sleeping with Yu everyday since he's gotten sick." Teddie expresses genuine concern towards Yu as his sickness continues, and ends up fainting from exhaustion due to how much worrying he's been pouring onto Yu.

When Nanako is announced to be admitted from the hospital, Yu comes home from school to see an ecstatic Teddie. He jumps up and down and asks Yu to give him a classic "Honey, I'm home" kiss, as well as a "smoochy-smoochy". If the protagonist chooses to "Give him all you got", Teddie suddenly jumps back and asks if his "bearamones were too strong for Sensei". He explains how he was practicing for Nanako when she comes home, and then proceeds to ask Yu what "glomping" was. Choosing to show and tell him, Teddie blushes, and says that "his heart's beating so fast, it feels like I'm being swept away..." By Yu's presence. Dojima walks in on them in the middle of their act.

There is no real way to interact with Teddie outside of his Social Link conversations, but there are instances where you can hang out with him at the hot springs. Bringing Teddie to the hot springs will spark a conversation where the two of them get in together, and Teddie compliments how nice the hot springs feel. Teddie follows up by complimenting Yu, and saying "You're so warm, Sensei..."

If you choose to wear the Hardboiled outfit in the TV World and talk to Teddie, he will seem flustered and say "Wow, you look so good! I wanna start a family with you..." If you choose to equip Teddie with the Gag glasses in the TV World and talk to him, he will blush and say that "Yu must have a type for Teddie in glasses".

If you win the finals for Teddie's Midnight Trivia Miracle Quiz, the prize is a kiss from Teddie. The protagonist will get tackled by Teddie and head off-screen, where he (presumably) kisses you.

Persona 4 The Animation[]

When Teddie reveals his human form that he's built from training, Yu compliments him, saying that he looks good. Teddie seems happy to his response.

At the Clamshell Inn, Teddie, Yosuke, Kanji, and Yu all sleep in the same room, and presumably share the bed together. He poses happily for Yu's picture of them playing around in their room, blushing.

Persona Q[]

Teddie is an option to be selected as a "destined lover and true soulmate" if playing as Yu Narukami during the marriage scene. Teddie is the only guy that doesn't seem entirely opposed to marrying Yu, and even blushes at Yu agreeing that they may be destined partners. He says that he's ready to marry Yu, and that he's always felt a connection with him since the day they met in the TV World. When they confront the photoshopped picture of their marriage, Teddie seems embarrassed and says "This was supposed to be our little secret...!"

Persona 4 Manga[]

At the end of the manga when Yu is getting ready to leave, Teddie confronts both him and Yosuke, and says that the two of them gave him life. He thanks Yu and Yosuke, and says "I love you."

Fanon[]

YuTeddie is popular amongst most Persona fans, however, it is outrivaled by other popular Yu ships, such as Souyo. Fans recognize the two's strong bond and their mutual concern and trust for each other, and due to Teddie's ambigious gender through the games, some fans speculate and headcanon YuTeddie to be a straight or even femslash due to their crossdressing outfits.

There are currently around 30 works for this ship on AO3.
