Yuffierith is the femslash ship between Aerith Gainsborough and Yuffie Kisaragi from the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts fandoms.

Canon

Final Fantasy VII

Due to the mechanics of the original game, and Yuffie's role within it, it is possible for Aerith and Yuffie to never meet one another. Players can make it through the entire game without meeting Yuffie, or without recruiting her into their party, as she is a "secret" character. It is also possible to recruit Yuffie to your team after Aerith's death, meaning they never have the opportunity to meet.

The two do not share very many one-on-one interactions because of this. If Yuffie is in the party when Aerith is killed by Sephiroth, she will react strongly to Aerith's death, bursting into tears in Cloud's arms.

Kingdom Hearts

Yuffie and Aerith are both living in Traverse Town, and members of Leon's crew. All three are originally from Radiant Garden, but when their world fell to darkness they were forced to Traverse Town.

Yuffie and Leon find Sora in the town square, and explain the purpose of the keyblade to him. Meanwhile, Aerith speaks with Donald Duck and Goofy about the connection between worlds. Later, the trio meet Sora in Hollow Bastion and encourage him on his journey to fight Ansem. Upon his success, Yuffie, Aerith, and Leon move back to Radiant Garden.

In Chain of Memories, Sora meets data versions of Yuffie, Aerith, and Leon. Yuffie tells Sora that Aerith was able to sense his power, and suggests that he come with her to visit Aerith. Both Yuffie and Aerith feel as though they remember Sora, but can't quite place him. Leon, on the other hand, doesn't remember Sora at all and sees the girls' actions as being confusing. In Kingdom Hearts 2, Sora reunites with Yuffie, Aerith, Leon, and Cid in Radiant Garden. They have put together the "Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee", and invite Sora to be a member. Later, Yuffie and Aerith are seen fighting side-by-side during the "Battle of the 1000 Heartless".

Yuffie and Aerith appear again in the DLC for Kingdom Hearts 3. They visit with Riku in Radiant Garden, and discuss Sora's disappearance. They are shown to be very worried about their missing friend.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

Fanon

Yuffierith is a rarepair in the fandom. This is possibly due to the age difference between the characters (Aerith is 22 and Yuffie is 16), or because they lack any real interactions in the original Final Fantasy VII. They are slightly more well-known as a pairing in the Kingdom Hearts fandom, where they easily share more interactions with each other. The Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy also brought more recognition to the pairing, thanks to the number of added cut scenes and interactions in comparison to the original game.

Fans who enjoy the pairing like the parallels between the two girls, with both being seen as "dorks". Despite this, they have differing external personalities: Yuffie is loud and extroverted whereas Aerith is more reserved and introverted. These two dynamics working in play make for any interesting ship.

There are currently 10 works for the romantic version of this ship on AO3. The platonic pairing is slightly more popular, with over 20 works.
