YukaMitsu is the femslash ship between Yukari Takeba and Mitsuru Kirijo from the Persona fandom.
Canon[]
Yukari and Mitsuru are both students at Gekkoukan High School. Mitsuru is the student council president and in her third year, while Yukari is in her second year. They are also both members of SEES and reside in Iwatodai Dormitory. Yukari was the newest member of SEES prior to the arrival of Makoto Yuki at the beginning of the spring semester.
Before even meeting each other, Yukari and Mitsuru's pasts are tied together. Yukari's father worked for the Kirijo Group, a multinational trading company run by Mitsuru's family. As the Kirijo Group dug deeper into learning the truth about Shadows and began to work on summoning the Fall, Yukari's father stood up against them. The Shadow research lab was eventually destroyed in an explosion, killing both Yukari's father and Mitsuru's grandfather. Yukari's father was blamed for the explosion and the deaths, which brought shame on her and her mother.
While vacationing on Yukishima Island, Yukari comments on Mitsuru's skin, calling it "flawless". She then asks if Mitsuru has applied any sunscreen yet, which causes Mitsuru to blush and say "not yet". Later on in the trip, Mitsuru's father, Takeharu Kirijo, and the SEES advisor, Shuji Ikutsuki, show the SEES members a video of Yukari's father from the night of the Kirijo group disaster. Unbenknownst to any of them, Ikutsuki has edited the footage to make it look as though Yukari's father was responsible for releasing the shadows. This devastates Yukari, and she lashes out at Mitsuru for keeping the truth from her.
Yukari and Mitsuru in Kyoto
On their school trip to Kyoto, Yukari meets with Mitsuru down by the river to make amends. Mitsuru tells her that there's no point, as their relationship doesn't matter without a common enemy to fight. Mitsuru, still hurting from the recent death of her father, lashes out and says that she didn't do enough to help him or the group. She blames herself for their failure, and for the death of her father. Yukari responds by slapping Mitsuru in the face, in an attempt to bring her back down to earth. She reminds Mitsuru that they don't yet know if everything they did was all for nothing. She explains that she wants to keep fighting to fulfill the wish of her father, and that Mitsuru should try and do the same. Yukari suggests that they return to the inn and take a bath together, which confuses Mitsuru. Yukari says they no longer have anything to hide from each other, which causes Mitsuru to blush. Yukari then blushes as well, and says she didn't mean it like that.
This conversation reinvigorates Mitsuru, and repairs their friendship. It also allows for Mitsuru's Persona to awaken into Artemisia.
Female Route[]
If Akihiko or Junpei are the only guys in Kotone’s party, Yukari will be paired with Mitsuru due to Arcana Lovers being only paired with the opposite sex. When they regrouped with Kotone and Akihiko or Junpei after they regained their senses, if Kotone asked them how they were doing, Mitsuru will claim nothing happened. It is implied that the others went through a similar experience as them.
The Answer[]
It is revealed that Mitsuru took an oath to do everything she could to protect Yukari from suffering.
After they lose to Aigis and Metis, Mitsuru tries to comfort a grief-stricken Yukari by telling her how she felt that her being by her side last year was the best moment of her life. Yukari began to cry in Mitsuru's embrace.
Persona 3 The Movie #4: Winter of Rebirth[]
Yukari becomes depressed upon learning about the impending end of the world at the hands of Ryoji and Nyx. She stops eating and spends most of her time in her room. Mitsuru comes to her room one day to give Yukari the footage of her father that Fuuka has recovered. Yukari says that Fuuka could have brought it herself, and Mitsuru reveals that she came partially because she was worried about Yukari. She tries to connect with Yukari, but Yukari asks her to leave.
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight[]
Yukari and Mitsuru are shown to be close, as the game takes place after the trip to Kyoto. Yukari states that she and Mitsuru are best friends, which surprises Makoto. When he questions this, Yukari tells him that it's a secret. Mitsuru says that it was painful but much needed, referencing the slap from Yukari. In another scene, the two discuss their approaches to dancing with Makoto and Fuuka. Mitsuru compliments Yukari by saying that her dancing brings energy to the crowd, while Yukari says that Mitsuru's dancing is "graceful" and "kickass". She says that Mitsuru's dancing abilities make her jealous.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax[]
After three years, Yukari joined a new organization Mitsuru created, Shadow Operatives. She, along with Ken, Koromaru, and Labrys, arrive in Inaba to rescue Mitsuru, Akihiko, Aigis, and Fuuka, who were kidnapped by an unseen enemy. Yukari's story mode is about saving Mitsuru, and she keeps worrying about her and keeps saying she is stronger because Mitsuru needs her help. Their relationship in this game is interesting since they fall off as friends thanks to not seeing each other for a while, Yukari waiting for Mitsuru to text her to hang out while Mitsuru isn't sure how to do it, Yukari even getting asked if she is having "boyfriend trouble" for staring at her phone too much, they reunite and become good friends again, Mitsuru saying that she has been keeping up with Yukari's work as an actress in the TV show "Featherman" as Feather Pink and even gotten merchandising about it, they have an ending art where the both of them are going shopping and hints that they don't get separated again like they promised as teenagers. Apart from this, Mitsuru also says how she would like Yukari's Feather Pink outfit to be accepted as her real battle suit.
Fanon[]
YukaMitsu is a popular ship in the Persona 3 fandom. The ship likely sailed as a result of the similarities between the girls and the conversation they share in Kyoto. It also helps that Mitsuru is known to blush often when conversing with Yukari, especially when receiving compliments. Fans enjoy the natural progression of their relationship over the course of the game, with Yukari starting out not seeming to like Mitsuru at all, to her jealousy over Mitsuru, to her eventually being the person to awaken Mitsuru's new Persona. Others enjoy the difference between the two characters, with Yukari presenting as more of the sweet "girly girl" and Mitsuru as the strong and stoic type.
This ship currently has over 200 works on AO3. It is Mitsuru's most popular ship, and Yukari's second most popular ship. It is the most popular Persona 3 femslash ship. Its biggest rival is the semi-canon MinaYuka.
