Canon[]
Breath of the Wild[]
After Bludo requests Link to find his apprentice, Yunobo, who has gone missing after he sent him to the storage cave to get his painkillers to ease his back pain, Link heads to the Abandoned Northern Mines to search for him. He hears cries for help in the storage cave and uses one of Bludo's cannons to break open the entrance to free Yunobo. Initially, the young Goron mistakes Link for a monster and runs around in circles before stopping and realizing that he is harmless. Yunobo then becomes grateful to Link for saving him and heads back to Goron City to give the medicine to Bludo. In the city, Yunobo had given Bludo the pain killers and heads out to Death Mountain where Divine Beast Vah Rudania roams while awaiting their arrival. However, Bludo's back pain still hasn't gotten better yet and insists that they delay their mission to stop Rudania while the medicine kicks in. Link heads out to meet with Yunobo, who is being attacked by monsters, and after he saves him, he tells him that Bludo can't join them since the pain killers have not kicked in yet, though he still insists that they go ahead and take on Rudania anyway. As Link and Yunobo knock down the bridge and cross over, Rudania summons Guardian Sentries in response to their trending in its territory. Link will whistle to Yunobo whenever he wants him to follow or stop in order to avoid them while reaching each cannon with Yunobo acting as a cannonball. Eventually, Vah Rudania retreated to the crator and Link promptly boards the Divine Beast without Yunobo. After Vah Rudania is appeased, Link is teleported back to the city entrance. Yunobo tells him that he is very grateful for his work, and he saw the ghost of Daruk on board Vah Rudania and adds that he has grown to be a little braver and confident and tells him to meet him at Bludo's place. Upon arrival, Bludo's back pain has improved and is prepared to handle the Divine Beast only to learn that Link and Yunobo have already done the deed and they no longer need to fear its further ramping.
Age of Calamity[]
As Yunobo is protecting Daruk from Fireblight Ganon, Link and his friends arrive to help destroy the blight before it killed any of them and Yunobo will be enthusiastic to see Link once again if Link is playable by the time, he enters the Divine Beast. During the Guardian of Remembrance DLC Pack 2 cutscene, Yunobo reveals his shame with Daruk about him being a coward who is afraid of everything for most of his life, though he fondly remembers Link coming into his life and helping him find his courage though he never tells Daruk his name. Regardless, Daruk is proud of Yunobo's growth and tells him to give his friend his regards.
Tears of the Kingdom[]
With the Upheaval occurring across the kingdom, Death Mountain's rocks become infected with Gloom which converts them into Marbled Rocks, which affects the Gorons (minus children and the elderly) and affects the workforce. Yunobo is given a strange mask by "Princess Zelda" which drastically alters his personality into being significantly mean-spirited and disrespectful towards others, as shown with his interactions with Bludo and leaving the young Goron children Slergo and Offrak worried of the person he became. Link is forced to fight him when "Zelda" forces him to succumb to its influence. After Link frees him by destroying the mask, Yunobo is reverted to his normal self, though he does not recall any of the events that occurred since he gained the mask from "Zelda". As Slergo and Offrak return home, Yunobo hears a mysterious voice calling to him and he and Link head to the top of the mountain to find the missing princess, but each time they catch up, she is already gone but not without summoning monsters to hold them back such as Moragia. They enter the Depths within Death Mountain, and they head to the Fire Temple where the voice is telling Yunobo to ring the gongs to remove the lock to the room where "Zelda" is trapped. After that, Link and Yunobo find themselves battling Marbled Gohma which they defeated though "Zelda" vanished. After Yunobo gains the Secret Stone, he allows Link to summon his avatar. They return to Goron City where the Marbled Rock Roasts ceased to exist, and the Gorons reverted to their normal selves and Yunobo managed to patch things up with Bludo.
Fanon[]
Yunolink is a fairly common ship between Link and Yunobo in terms of fan fic and are most commonly platonic in many works, though there are occasionally some slash ships between the two of them. Link is a strong contributor to Yunobo's character growth in Breath of the Wild as Yunobo has been easily frightened by everything around him which can sometimes cause some issues while at work and tends to overreact to various scenarios that are not scary for most people. Around the time Link met him, he was able to help Yunobo overcome the obstacles of his cowardice through fighting Vah Rudania even when they were told to hold off until Bludo's back improved. This is made clear in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity where he confides with Daruk about him though he never states Link's name to Daruk as he presumably knows that the Link in his own time also knew Daruk and does not want to cause any confusion for his grandfather which shows that he is fond of Link and by the time Tears of the Kingdom rolled around, Yunobo has never shown any of his former cowardice since then and as created YunoboCo to signify his growth, only being afraid when things are genuinely stressful. Link and Yunobo sometimes have their fair share of fan art together as well.
