ZabuHaku is the slash ship between Zabuza Momochi and Haku from the Naruto fandom.
Canon[]
Part I[]
Haku was orphaned and homeless after his father had killed his mother and he was forced to kill his father in self-defense. Zabuza encountered Haku on the streets and approached him. Haku said that Zabuza's eyes reminded him of his own, and Zabuza allowed Haku to join him in exchange for becoming his "ultimate weapon", which he accepted. Zabuza then trained Haku in the ways of the shinobi and he proved useful thanks to his Kekkei Genkai, Ice Release. Haku dedicated his life to protecting Zabuza.
Zabuza and Haku were later hired by the business man Gato to kill a bridge builder named Tazuna and prevent a bridge to the Land of Waves from being built. When Zabuza was about to be killed by Kakashi, Haku disguised himself as a hunter-nin and knocked Zabuza unconscious with senbon. He then teleported away with Zabuza, pretending that he was going to dispose of his corpse. Haku then woke Zabuza up and brought him to rest. Gato wanted to kill Zabuza for his failure while he was recovering, but Haku threatened him and he backed off.
Zabuza and Haku tried to attack the bridge builder again one week later and ended up in a rematch against Team 7. Zabuza fought Kakashi while Haku fought Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto managed to defeat Haku after Sasuke was almost killed, and Haku begged for Naruto to kill him, as he felt that he was no longer of use to Zabuza after losing to Naruto. When Naruto was about to comply, Haku sensed that Zabuza was about to be killed by Kakashi and intercepted, taking the fatal blow for him.
Gato arrived on the battlefield and removed Zabuza from his mission, and began to kick Haku's body. Naruto berated Zabuza for treating Haku like a tool when he dedicated his life to him, and Zabuza silenced him before admitting that although he was a shinobi, he was also a human. Zabuza then turned around and ran through all of Gato's henchmen to kill him, being mortally wounded in the process. Zabuza asked Kakashi to put him next to Haku as he died and said that Haku will get to go to a better place than him, but Kakashi speculated that Zabuza might make it there too. They were buried next to each other after they died.
Part II[]
Zabuza and Haku were revived by the Edo Tensei for the Fourth Shinobi World War. When Haku noticed that Zabuza was also dead, he felt that he had failed to protect him, but was told by Kakashi that Zabuza had sacrificed his life to avenge him. Haku later protected Zabuza from Sai's explosive tags, but this ended up not being necessary, as those revived by the Edo Tensei were able to regenerate. Haku also later took another blow from Kakashi while shielding Zabuza. The two were eventually sealed and released back into the afterlife after the end of the war.
Fanon[]
ZabuHaku has a decent amount of popularity in the Naruto fandom. As both characters are from the first major story arc of the series, they are well known by most who are familiar with the series. Since they both died at the end of the arc and are not commonly shipped with anybody else, many ship them together. Some have a problem with the age difference between the two characters. On AO3, there are more than 250 works for the pairing. ZabuHaku rivals the NaruHaku pairing.
