ZakuPai is the het ship between Pie and Zakuro Fujiwara in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom.
Canon[]
Tokyo Mew Mew (2002)[]
Zakuro and Pie began as natural enemies. Pie was a member of an alien race dedicated to reclaiming the earth for themselves and exacting revenge on humanity while Zakuro became a mew mew with the ability to transform into a magical girl with wolf-like abilities and a magical whip to fight the aliens and protect humanity. Zakuro and Pie frequently encountered each other and fought on the battlefield. As Zakuro was a famous actress and model, it was especially easy for Pie and the other aliens to target her because they would often be aware of her location.
The aliens' leader Deep Blue was later awakened and the entire city of Tokyo was being threatened. Pie battled against Zakuro along with Mint, Lettuce, and Pudding outside of Deep Blue's base while Ichigo pursued Deep Blue inside. Deep Blue later released a giant beam of energy that began to destroy everything around it and threatened to do the same to the mew mews, but Pie sacrificed himself to stop the beam with a smile on his face before being killed by it. Pie was later revived when Ichigo used the Mew Aqua to undo Deep Blue's damage and he returned to his home planet with the other aliens.
In the manga Tokyo Mew Mew 2020 Re-Turn, Pie and the other aliens came back to earth after a few years to work at Cafe Mew Mew, the restaurant where Zakuro also worked.
Tokyo Mew Mew New[]
Zakuro and Pie started as natural enemies. Pie was a member of an alien race who wanted to reclaim the earth, as the surface of their current planet was uninhabitable, and they also wanted to exact revenge on humanity for polluting the earth while they were gone. Zakuro was a mew mew, a human who had the ability to transform into a girl with magical powers and wolf traits to protect the earth and humanity from the aliens. Pie and Zakuro frequently fought on the battlefield.
Unlike the previous anime adaptation, Pie never directly turned against Deep Blue, although he did stab him in order to spill some of the Mew Aqua in his blood to open up a portal to his home world. He also never died in this adaptation. However, Ichigo and Masaya were able to purify their home world with the Mew Aqua which made their home planet inhabitable. The aliens no longer needed the earth, so Pie and the other aliens returned home while Zakuro and the others remained on earth.
Fanon[]
ZakuPai has a small amount of popularity in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom. It does not have as much popularity as it used to and is considered a rare-pair by today's standards. This is due to the fact that two barely have any interaction and the fact that Pie has ship tease moments with Lettuce instead. ZakuPai is often shipped along with RetaRyo as a Pair the Spares ship in order to give Zakuro and Pie a love interest. Fans who ship ZakuPai believe that their cold personalities and similar coloration compliment each other perfectly. ZakuPai most commonly rivals the RetaPai and ZakuMint ships.
