Zalissa is the het ship between Zack Underwood and Melissa Chase from the Milo Murphy's Law fandom.

Canon

Overview

Zack and Melissa are the two best friends of Milo Murphy. Although playfully vitriolic at times, they're usually on the same page in their daily activities. Whenever life gets chaotic, usually due to Milo's bad omens, they seek solace in each other, with Melissa turning to Zack for a sense of normalcy and Zack looking to Melissa for logic and reason. The two regularly engages in playful banter, where Zack teases Melissa and Melissa gives him the occasional dig in the arm. However, they know how to use their best qualities in tandem, when faced with adversity and get themselves out of any scenario that Milo or some other chaotic force, may get them into. By the Season 2 finale, Zack and Melissa grew close enough together to become an official couple.

Season 1

Zack and Melissa first met in "Going the Extra Milo", when Zack became a new student at Jefferson County Middle School, when they met through their mutual friend, Milo Murphy. However, Zack spent most of the episode interacting with Milo, not really seeing much of Melissa outside of the very beginning and end of the episode. It wouldn't take long for Zack and Melissa to spend more screentime together in subsequent episodes. Zack and Melissa were mainly brought together, by their collaberative efforts to help Milo with his problems.

It wasn't until "Missing Milo", that Zack and Melissa spent a great deal of time alone together, when searching for Milo, after he went missing. They needed to get him back so that they could watch Dr. Zone with him so they looked all over Danville for him. They used their combined intelligence and thinking skills to seek out his abandoned backpack on the ground. After careful observation, they ended up traveling years into an apocalyptic future, where the world was run by Pistachions, as this was exactly where he was.

Season 2

In "Sphere and Loathing in Outer Space", Melissa kissed Zack on the cheek before they boarded the space ship back home, signifying the beginning of their relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Fanon

Zalissa was a common ship in the MML fandom, due to the friends' chemistry together. However, it was rivaled by Milissa. Both relationships were equally likely to happen, given the two guys and a girl setup in TV shows, inevitably leading to a relationship between the girl and one of the guys. However, with the Season 2 finale, "Sphere and Loathing in Outer Space", it was ultimately Zalissa that became canon. Earlier in said season, Milissa support dwindled, as the writers sprinkled in a few ship teases for Milanda, steering shippers to pair Milo with Amanda instead, getting him out of the mix by means of avoiding a dreaded love triangle cliche. Other rivaling ships for Zalissa, though not as popular, include Zackie and Zlydia.

The Zalissa shipping community was satisfied when Zack and Melissa became an official couple in the season finale. Unfortunately, they'd fall disappointed when the show was cancelled. This meant that Zack and Melissa's relationship would remain inconclusive and completely undeveloped right after it started. Because of this, fans use their own creativity to continue the story of Zack and Melissa through fanfiction. Currently, there are 102 Melissa Chase/Zack Underwood stories on AO3.

Fans also hope to see Zack and Melissa make cameos in the Phineas and Ferb reboot, hoping their relationship can be explored in their sister series.
