Having A Talk[]
Riyo and Zanka having a conversation
A tired Zanka groggily asks Riyo during Rudo’s party, if it’s a bit too early for all the noise confused by all the talking and commotion. Riyo corrects him, saying that it’s actually nighttime. She explains that the celebration is for Rudo, to which Zanka responds with a tired and unenthusiastic “Uh-huh. for that kid….?.” Zanka suspects that some people are just there for the booze rather than to celebrate Rudo. Riyo replies, “Well, what’s wrong with that?” and adds that everyone needs a break sometimes, brushing him off him with her laid back attitude. Zanka notices Rudo sitting alone at a table, looking sad. Zanka and Riyo have a brief conversation about Rudo. They end up shifting the topic to The Trash’s Beast core which had been defeat by Riyo. Riyo figures the higher people in charge can figure it out and that they shouldn’t stress over it. Zanka remarks that nothing will ever stop her from being herself.
Care For Each Other[]
Zanka gets angry at Amo for attacking Enjin and calls her out. Riyo is the only one who looks at him and says his name. Later, Riyo speaks up about the need to stop Delmon quickly and handle the situation. As she begins to walk forward to Delmon, Zanka reaches out his hand and yells at her. He tells her not to go alone and that Delmon is a tricky opponent. He insists they need to stick together as a team, not wanting to lose anyone else. Riyo recalls Amo’s earlier words about how there’s another fan of hers in the group. As she looks back at Zanka, he tries to regain her attention by shouting for her to look ahead. However, Riyo remains suspicious of everyone, including Zanka, saying she can’t trust anyone. Zanka shouts once again for her to look forward. She stares at him for a moment. Delmon attacks her but she isn’t hurt. Zanka urges her to stay focused.
After the battle against Amo ends and everyone returns to normal, those affected by her powers are left devastated. Amo’s illusions made it seem like the person they loved had come back to life. Zanka thinks on how cruel and twisted her powers is. He glances at Riyo, who is crushed and staring at the ground. It is implied that Zanka knows Riyo had lost someone important to her. He becomes angry and thinks to himself how nasty Amo’s powers are.

Zanka and Riyo aren't widely shipped as a romantic pair, but their long time friendship is appreciated especially by fans who see them as a good example of a platonic boy and girl friendship in shounen like ItaKugi. After episode four which focused mainly on Riyo, anime viewers started to ship them romantically after her introduction.
Zanka is known for his relentless determination and physical strength in fights, while Riyo is a former hitman, who brings lethal precision. Their traits are often seen as complementary making them a powerful duo, especially in situations where they have each other’s backs.
Though no romantic feelings have ever been hinted at, some fans believe Zanka and Riyo could become a canon relationship by the series' end due to often being seen next to each other. Zanka and Riyo are sometimes paired together in Team Akuta group art besides EnRudo. They are also seen as shipmates with AmoRudo. They rival AmoRiyo, EishiaRiyo, FuRiyo, Ruyo, Follka, Janka, ZanFu, ZanHyo, ZanJin, and ZanRu.

- In Episode 11 of the English dub, Riyo does not say Zanka’s name during the scene where Zanka calls Amo his enemy instead Riyo says: “Damn, dude”.
